LMAO -- even in the face of the government admitting it was a lab leak, we've still got people who are clinging to the old lies. Convincing people that they have been lied to is very hard to accept for the person who was duped.
This statement indicates either a failure to engage in critical thinking when consuming information or an attempt to intentionally misrepresent and lie. Typically, this behavior is a sign that someone is desperate to cling onto something.
"The FBI previously came to the conclusion that the pandemic was likely the result of a lab leak in 2021 with “moderate confidence” and still holds to this view. The FBI employs a cadre of microbiologists, immunologists and other scientists and is supported by the National Bioforensic Analysis Center, which was established at Fort Detrick, Md., in 2004 to analyze anthrax and other possible biological threats."
please link to "scientific" assessments which strongly believe in natural origin from an infected animal.
It may have come from a lab (but not certain) but the idea it could have come from a lab was shouted down, a QAnon, far right extremist conspiracy theory, absolutely did not come from a lab. Didn’t even leave open the possibility. Misinformation! China, “experts”, “fact checkers” said it didn’t come from a lab so it musn’t have come from a lab! Spoiler
The right leaning posters are doing it again. They can't respect and appreciate the amazing job Biden has done. Lock downs are lifted. Mandates are gone. And he has even found the source of the virus. Biden is the best president this country has ever had.
"Strongly" is my own opinion based on: There is currently no scientific evidence supporting the "lab leak" hypothesis. The reason why the "lab leak" hypothesis is still a plausible option is largely due to China's censorship. There is evidence indicating multiple spillovers from animals, but it is not conclusive. Putting these two together, it is easy to see why virologists probably still strongly believe in a natural (spillovers) origin over a lab leak hypothesis.
BTW, did you know there is another lab leak "theory"? Even though it is from the Chair of the Lancet commission, this theory is not being taken seriously because there is no evidence to support it. Prof. Sachs, who proposed the theory, is an economist.
No one has polled them as a group, so in that sense, no. But as I stated, I believe that virologists still strongly believe that it is likely a natural spillover, but they are not excluding other possibilities, such as a lab leak.
This virologist strongly believes it's a natural spillover from animal to human but doesn't completely rule out the possibility of a lab leak (open to changing mind with new solid evidence). I think this is where most virologists are given the current scientific data.
Yes, I read that part. But irrespective of that, there simply is no evidence for what he's peddling. The reason why this is not picked up by any serious person is that there is no evidence and in general, people believe in the US (not censoring scientists and hiding lab data). In contrast, while there is also no evidence for Wuhan's lab leak hypothesis, people do not believe in China (we know they censor their scientists, and we know they hide data). It is practically the only logical reason why the lab leak hypothesis is still a plausible option.
Scientists look at scientific evidence and make judgments on a hypothesis based on them. That's how science work. Given no scientific evidence for a lab leak but evidence of likely multiple spillovers, it's a pretty easy call.
