Any of the original Thunder players has become a super journeyman. Harden included. Durant, Westbrook, Harden, Jeff Green, Serge Ibaka......Thabo out of the league. It's got to be fate.
Assuming you're mocking "Tanking for a top 5 pick is a strategy." I re-read your post and i don't know if you're being passive aggressive against or actually for the tank but with pessimism about Wemby odds? We're not tanking for a top 5 pick. That's not a strategy we had to plan. We knew we would suck anyway which makes strategically going for the best odds at..not just a game changer-but a potential game breaker and rule changer-while knowing behind him is a guy who could go #1 other years-is our best chance at returning to a top team in fastest possible time especially if they feel it just so happens that the 2 years they sucked before netted them starter level players only and not true franchise players. Without that strategy, at best we're still talking about a top 5-10 pick anyway. We'd be looking at Darko Millicic(DD would fap) while other teams are in place to get Lebon or Wade. The Rockets picked the right strategy for their franchise. Failing that, you move on and start to battle fight and inch closer with a new coach and staff and culture change. The players know the memo. They'll get the new one this summer with Wemby/Scoot or without them. Let me put it this way. If POP and the Spurs are deliberately all out for the tank too, yeah..we picked the right strategy because they could easily have been battle fighting for a top 5-14 pick with Dejounte and Poetl and current players, but dumped anything that would help them win because they know the significance of a player like Wemby. If the conspiracy theories were true, they would have kept their best players and got the memo from the NBA they were going to jump up big in the lottery and win the Wemby sweepstakes.
Michael Jordan Charles Barkley Hakeem Olajuwon Lebron James Chris Paul You know... all those nobodies...
Let's say we end up at #2... What about trading the pick (Scoot) for a more proven talent? Say we don't bring Harden back... #2 pick, Tate, and Martin For LaMelo Ball We then spend free agent money on stretch 3/4... Say Grant Williams? Career 38% 3pt shooter. He plays defense. Born in Houston... Ball Green Williams Smith Sengun Bench: Porter Eason Christoper Garuba Still leaves cap space open and Ball's passing may help with open looks for Williams/Smith as floor spacers...
Williams is RFA. The Celtics are at 130 million with just 7 players next year and no relief in sight if they resign Brown. I doubt they match significant money for Williams...
I agree, but that's why he could be made available... Just an example... I think Tatum or Brown to be more ideal but less likely Boston parts with one....
I see no reason to speak negatively of Victor just because I think Alpi is a great player. To me, they just have different strengths. Those who believe it is clear that Wemby is a better player...that depends on what you value. Wemby clearly has the height thing going for him (but that might make him more injury-prone). They are probably similarly good rebounders I assume Sengun will be the better post defender (Wemby can probably be pushed out of position relatively easily due to his slight frame), but Wemby will block more shots simply due to his height Wemby is probably the better jump shooter and outside shooter today (TBD) Sengun is almost certainly the better playmaker and will always average more assists than Wemby Wemby will probably average a few more points than Sengun early on, partly because he will be given every opportunity as a no. 1 pick Sengun will likely have the higher FG % Overall, I would like for the Rockets to have them both...
Tanking is incredibly damaging to the NBA. Even after they weakened the strategy with the rule change it is still happening . I think the League should have a new mechanic where the league votes to choose 2 teams that "overperformed" the most. Those two teams get a 35% chance at pick 1 and 2. To qualify the team must have been in the bottom 5 the *previous year. Benefits: Draft would still be interesting as a lot of teams would still have a small chance at high draft picks. Tanking would be limited to 1 year in most cases and only really be productive the next year. The league would be VASTLY more fun to watch and many more games would become watchable. Teams would be forced to do their best. So if a team went from 20 wins to 35 wins for example they would have a good chance to receive the draft boost and have a 35% chance at pick 1 and a 70% chance at pick 1 or 2.
tried to read but as soon as i spotted you're a victim of original logical fallacy of tanking( the higher the pick the better the player) i stopped insert kramer nod gif & laughing
Actually, nowhere do I say anything like that. Perhaps the fallacy is you responded to a post without actually attempting to understand it? It is not I who have placed Wemby as the likely #1 pick. Are you arguing teams are tanking to get the #5 pick rather than Wemby? If that is what you think you shouldn't be discussing fallacies.
