I’m a big Alpi fan and believe he should play 35 minutes every game, but he can’t be tweeting during the game like that. He needs to keep his focus, it’s a reminder of how young these guys are.
I get your point. But I think Sengun is better than the young Rubio. Similarities: Strength--both are great passers Weakness--both can't hit outside shots What Sengun is better than Rubio is the ability to finish inside. Rubio has the handle to get to the basket. He just can't finish consistently. If he could, he would be a much more effective playmaker. Sengun obviously doesn't have Rubio's handle. But as a big man, his ball handling is quite good. And he is an efficient scorer inside. If Sengun can shoot from outside, he will reach his ceiling as an offensive player.
They are not passing the ball to him or cutting. He is a talented player who the coach hates him and the players are very selfish
Sengun's shooting form is much better than rubio when he was young. Rubio was flat out bricking and you new it when it was getting out of his hands. I really don't get 'Sengun can't shoot from range' treatment. Would like to see him shoot freely and without pressure and see what his % is. The guy hits 3s and he shoots in a natural way. He is 12/31(37.8%) in 3s with more than 4 sec on the clock. The coaches seem to give him 'he can't shoot' treatment and force him to find new forms of shooting but i am not sure if this is necessary. edit: he is 33.3% on 3s with one heave and with one corner 3 at the buzzer. Even if you just disregard them he is at 35%, way too good for someone who cannot shoot.
Yeah I was simply referencing the pre draft assessment from this front office and early in the first two seasons having a significant weakness that’ll likely define whether they go from good to great. I wouldn’t overthink the comparison. Different players in every aspect but similar in the situation imo. The thing that intrigues me the most is the fact that as a pre draft prospect Morey and the Stone (assuming same scouting team for the most part) both tried to and in Sengun’s case succeeded in trading down with significant assets for these two guys seeing something star level potential.
I totally agree that they should give him the green light to shoot from outside when he is open. That's the only way to build his confidence. His percentage is not bad but the sample size is too small. He shot more last season at a much lower percentage. This is how "Sengun can't shoot from range" came from. It's not just a misperception by his critics. Garuba is shooting 47% from 3, by far the highest on the team. Nobody is calling him an elite 3pt shooter because he shoots too little. And Sengun's volume is only slightly higher than Garuba. Until Sengun can shoot around 2.5 - 3 attempts a game at 33+%, I wouldn't call him a competent outside shooter.
Sure, here the claim is not 'he is shooting this percentage so he is a good shooter'. The claim is there should be nothing that stops him from shooting more. I did not even mention that he is a decent free throw shooter. His career free throw % is better than kpj and there is no lack of volume there. And last season he shot bad, but keep in mind that his entire game had been post-game before. This is very important. It is not like rubio, who tried to shoot but couldn't. And then there is the short leash that puts constant pressure on him. Sengun is certainly not put in a position to thrive in shooting. I believe strongly that shooting will be his strength and not a weakness. Same with Garuba, you should make him shoot more, to find a better balance between volume and hitting percentage. These are not players whose percentages are set on stone by years of play. These are young guys whose shooting capacity is yet to be determined. The most stupid thing to do will be to decide that they are bad shooters without giving them the chance to shoot more. If somebody is shooting 47% on 3s and you are not trying to create him open shots at his strong spots, thinking that he won't shoot that well on higher volume, then you are a fool. At least you gotta double the attempts and see how he shoots.
I am not saying that Sengun can't be a good shooter. All I'm saying is that he has not demonstrated that he is. Sengun is clearly mis-coached so far. Despite that, he still is doing well. I have confidence that he will be better.
Wait! does that tweet posted while he was sitting on Bench? That sounds much more serious right now. He couldn't even think of phone ,let alone tweet at a game while playing in turkey.
you think Michael Jordan would be able to win if he played 6 minutes a game or 12 minuets a game? or if his teammates wouldnt pass him the ball and chuck a 3 pointer instead? LOL youre just an immature pathetic hater...a basketball ignoramus!
YANIS antetokounpo AND jimmy BUTLER BOTH NOT GOOD 3PT SHOOTERS 2 MOST DOMINANT PLAYERS in NBA ACHIEVED THE MOST WITH THE poorest supporting casts TAKE THAT FOR DATA 3 PT CULTERS!
Sengun already showed us he can be a good midrange shooter, that putshot is wet, for some reason he stopped taking it.... with more PT, attempts and a better role/rhythm that shot will be money, bet you any money! you can see he likes and takes pride in that shot, unlike with 3pt which he is still mostly hesitant to do...and thats 100% OK especially given the situation he is in...
Alpe has multiple opportunities every game to take wide open 3 from the key and pump fakes 90% of them. Guy just has to start shooting them.
Sengun is a more talented Sabonis who could be part of a Championship team and Sengun will be in multi all star as well. He is a 20 and 10 guy.
Is there a talented Denver Nuggets assistant coach we could hire who could model our offense around Sengun in the same manner as Denver works through Jokic? How about David Adelman -- Rick Adelman's son?
We just need a coach that is open minded on utilizing the best talent to lead the team. How in the fk in the modern era do we have a coach still thinking only guards can carry teams to victory. Not all centers have to b lob threats or dunk masters to b used in the modern nba
