The odds are whoever has Tilman doesn't have the brightest future

Kinda funny the Hornets are last here as arguably they have the best player out of all these teams.

Both can be true - Sengun can be the best player on the team and still NOT the guy to build around.

Seems like Giovanni is the TNT halftime show style of analyst who doesn't follow bad teams if he thinks Green hasn't improved on anything.

but lowe and givoney didn't just think he was currently the best player on the team, they thought he was the most promising young player to build around currently on the team too.

Hornets would be consensus number 1. Miles bridges just ruined what they had going

This guy wants to cut KPJ also. Seems more like an edgy guy than someone with sincere thoughts. I have issues with KPJ but he has value. At the very least he will net something. He isn't a level of talent you simply cut.

Also this guy's comments about any improvement from Green makes me not trust his "insight" on KPJ and the locker room. He's a gossip artist at this point for all I care.

Yes those are those two guys opinions. That great for them?

These guys are national pundits. I don't trust the level of ball they watch of the Rockets. They just know people praise Sengun a lot. They probably have watched a handful of Rocke games.

These guys spend 90% of their coverage on the playoff teams. That's what people care about. I doubt they have much insight on the Rockets that most fans who have a masochist atriide towards watching this team who watch every game have.

The statement that "Green hasn't improved" is strictly conjecture.

If you recall last season, Green couldn't run a simple pick and roll .... this season he's actually "almost competent" in that regard.

He was just so damn raw and had so far to go to reach his projected potential that it's almost unrealistic to believe he gets there.

Givoney can suck it tbh, but Lowe is super insightful.

A lot of the smartest basketball analysts, such as Lowe, are coming to this same conclusion too btw. So, it isn't simply one guy's opinion.

Spurs??? How can anyone not have them last? Keldon Johnson is just big Rj Barrett. Vassell is decent but low level allstar at best. Aside from that what is there? Malachi Branham? The worse T. Jones brother? Return of the flasher? The best thing about the Spurs is their draft pick. I feel like Givony had those guys much higher in the draft and is sticking to his guns even though it's been pretty much validated. Lost some respect for his opinion here.

Edit: ok I forgot Sochan, he's pretty good. Having the humility to shoot FTs one handed when you're under 50% two handed reflects a lot of character. Still though, overall they're better than Charlotte at best.

to be fair to the Spurs, Sochan has looked really good, and Keldon is meh, but his contract is great.

Oh yeah I forgot Sochan. He's good, good call. Don't think he's enough to salvage that scrap heap though.

i don't really live and die by Givony but he definitely puts more effort into his output than Chuck, Shaq and Kenny.

Maybe he just doesn't have the motivated reasoning to pick out the few silver linings from a disastrous season? Nobody is actually satisfied with Green's season this year, not even Stone.

Other than foul drawing what actually is there about Green that's better?

    Shot making - no.
Defense - i think he's actually gotten worse
    Ball Handling - no
    Passing - no.
    Overall decision-making - no.

I can't tell you what Givony watched or did not watch but if you listen to the pod, it sounded like he watched a fair amount of Rockets, if only to update his Jabari Smith evaluations.

Lol he definitely has improved significantly on ball handling to the point where he has the KPJ symptom of overdribbling which he just couldn't do last season. That was one of the double edged swords of KPJ being a really competent ball handler. He can spam dribbles around traffic and eat up half the shot clock.

I honestly don't think you watch that many Rocket games. Your takes on Green are wildly off in terms of areas of improvement and stagnation. The main thing that has been stagnant with him is defensive intensity and shooting consistency. He's getting the the rim more, he's become a competent pnr primary ball handler. He's improved on finding open teammates from the dribble seperation he creates.

Unfortunate to have a professional scout like Givony confirm what I’ve been saying all year, zero improvement from Green which is the biggest red flag for young players. But at least people outside of Houston can see how special Sengun is.
