The same hairstyle he was rocking 20 year ago. Amazing. His face has aged 30 years, but his hair hasn't lost a step.
I like Chase coming out but he didn’t look all that great once he came back from that ACL. Hopefully a full offseason will get him back. I wouldn’t give anything higher than a day 2 pick right now.
[The Athletic] Which teams must upgrade their edge rushing units? Ranking all teams by stability and need. By many measures — game impact, salary, draft priority and more — quarterback stands as the most valued position in the NFL. The same almost can be said for the players tasked with making quarterbacks’ lives miserable: the edge rushers. Edge rusher impact is evident in The Athletic’s NFL Roster Evaluation model. The top four overall teams in the model’s rankings also have an edge rusher personnel group ranked among the league’s top four. This is not a power ranking of position groups. The point of this exercise is to contextualize two things: A given team’s need to upgrade a particular position group compared to other teams around the league. How that need at the given position compares to other positions on its own roster. Production, depth, contract stability and injury history were all considered, and positions were weighted to account for differing levels of impact. The table below ranks every NFL team’s edge rusher group from most stable and strong to least. The team priority level — or the emphasis a team is likely to place on upgrading the edge rusher position in free agency and the draft compared to other positions on its roster — is ranked from 1-10, with 1 being lowest priority and 10 being highest. NFL RANK TEAM TEAM PRIORITY 1 San Francisco 49ers 1 2 Buffalo Bills 1 2 Philadelphia Eagles 2 4 Dallas Cowboys 2 4 New England Patriots 2 6 New Orleans Saints 1 7 Miami Dolphins 4 8 Pittsburgh Steelers 1 9 Houston Texans 2 “9. Houston Texans Jon Greenard made a positive impact for the Texans in 2021, logging eight sacks in 12 games. But he followed that up with 1.5 sacks in eight games in 2022. It probably doesn’t make much sense for him to agree to a contract extension ahead of 2023, the final year of his rookie deal — and that’s assuming the Texans would even offer him one. Jerry Hughes’ 9.0 sacks in his age 34 season showed he can still play, but the question is whether he will do so in Houston in 2023? Next season is the final year of Hughes’ contract, making him a possible trade candidate, though the Texans might value the competency and veteran presence at the position. Plus, Hughes, who is from the Houston area, might not want to move again. — Aaron Reiss”
Texans hire Cole Popovich as assistant Oline coach. https://www.si.com/nfl/patriots/new...ach-cole-popovich-return-covid-houston-texans Any student of Dante Scarnecchia has to be cause for hope.
2023 NFL free agency mock draft: Derek Carr to Commanders, Jimmy Garoppolo to Dolphins, plus 30 other moves https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...aroppolo-to-dolphins-plus-30-other-moves/amp/ Spoiler: Texans 5. Texans: DE Marcus Davenport Five years into his career, Davenport's name is still a bit bigger than his resume. But Houston needs immediate and long-term help off the edge, and at 26, he's still got room to grow. He also flashed Pro Bowl ability in 2021 with a nine-sack breakout. If anyone could help him reach the next level, it'd probably be DeMeco Ryans, who led San Francisco's nasty front.
With the Ides of March right around the corner, I simplified my wishlist. It's ballin' on a budge In order of importance 1. Bradburry (thought it would be a great move even before Ryans got here) 2. Julian Love ( Would make a great pairing with Pitre) 3. Hardman (Fell out of favor with the Chiefs after fumbling a couple of times) 4. Foster Moreau 5. Al-Shaair just for Demeco's comfort I think whoever we want, we can get. That's where we're at! Can't believe I said "we" for the Texans. I don't want 6 weeks of Jimmy G then go back to Mills. Don't want that life.
I've never been a huge Jimmy G fan, however, he has value. I'm just not sure its right fit for Texans at this stage of our rebuild. If Cas and Coach Ryans are trying to turn us around quickly and believe having Jimmy G leading the offense is the way to do it, then I guess so be it. Call me surprised if there isn't multiple better situations for his services than our team. I would think he'd be looking for an opportunity ready to contend.
HOUSTON TEXANS WR BRANDIN COOKS → NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS Trade compensation: Texans send 2024 7th; acquire 2023 3rd Contract acquired: Two years, $35 million ($18 million total guaranteed) Cooks has already been traded three times in his career, including going from the New Orleans Saints to the Patriots in 2017 and moving from the Los Angeles Rams to the Houston Texans to play for head coach Bill O’Brien in 2020 … the new offensive coordinator of the 2023 Patriots. Cooks lasted one year with New England, and he was with O'Brien in Houston for only four games before the coach's firing. With Patriots wide receivers Jakobi Meyers and Nelson Agholor pending free agents, New England and O’Brien reunite with the veteran Cooks. The Patriots won’t have to part with a first-round pick as they did back in 2017, and Cooks’ contract runs through 2024, which is also the fourth and final year of quarterback Mac Jones’ rookie deal. More than half of Cooks’ remaining contract being guaranteed works against his value a bit, though it could also make it more likely he plays out these years as compared to DeAndre Hopkins. Despite the tumultuous past three seasons in Houston, Cook earned an 82.1 cumulative receiving grade, which was a top-30 mark at the position. His 1.90 yards per route run ranked in the top 25, his 66 explosive receptions ranked 17th and his 30 receptions on balls thrown 20-plus yards downfield ranked eighth. Cooks remains one of the better deep-ball trackers in the NFL, with the ability to consistently handle significant volume. He had at least four receptions in 11 of 13 games in 2022 — and he probably would have even more impressive stats if he had played elsewhere.
Congrats to Davis! Hope his fiancée knows he's going to be spending more time with some guys named Bobby and Jerod then her.
