Westbrook is the new Lamar Odom obviously without the Khloe Kardashian, coke stuff and with a stable private life. Lamar went Clips to Lakers and ended it with the Clips, Russ Lakers to Clips via Utah.
For his sake I hope he is not meaning it but just keeps Kawhi and George engaged by saying those outlandish stuff. Really hope he just plays it cool with the media and only use WB sporadically.
Dude's gonna still make bank after his nba career is over teaching a master class in the art of witchcraft.
To be absolutely fair, coach wants Russ to be Russ, and that cannot happen without the ball in his hands. My hope is that the Clippers allow Russ to be Russ long enough for that pick swap to actually be worth something. My assessment is that this will be Russell's last hoorah before riding off into the sunset. He is not going to accept a lessor role next season and the man is playing for a contract and a major role. Russ ego is waaaay to big to agree not to be Russ. He will go off like Allen Iverson because he also won't accept that he no longer is a key guy and the guy never developed his game to be less than a high usage, low efficiency player. I'll be tuning in to Clippers game to watch this experiment go to ****. It could work, but you would have to do it to the detriment of your team and best players, and it really won't lead you anywhere. Zubac will have to be taken out of the line up and they'll have to run with Covington or Batum at center if they really want to make it work with Russ. Mike D got it to work after they shipped Capela out and Rockets stuck to a small line up with shooters. Russ went on to play really well after the all star break because the Rockets opened up the court for him, took the ball out of their best player's hands, and allowed him to be Russ.
ty lou got his work cut out for him. now he has a legit escaping goat to point to when they get bounced out of the 2nd round.
the honeymoon phase is always hilarious with westbrick. Coming in all smiles, the respect from peers from his earlier days. folks just casually think they're getting something they're not. Then actual games happen and he's the disaster he is for the last several years. then all the scapegoat nonsense reasons for why he's not playing well continue yet again. same song and dance. at the end of the day. He sucks with horrendous bball iq. that's the only explanation that matters
It appears the Clippers are going to be stubborn, so I'm thinking he won't be thrown to the bench until 20 games in.
So the Rockets dumped Westbrook and took back Wall. Then the Rockets cut Wall. The Clippers picked up Wall then dumped him to the Rockets and picked up Westbrook while the Rockets dumped Wall again.
The blazers actually had the best Offense rating and worst Defense before All Star break. Clippers had one of the worst Offenses besides the Lakers before Kawhi came back.
Coaches should put a sticky on their fridge: "Never ever let Westbrook on the floor in a do-or-die last possession. NEVER!"
As much as people love to hate on Westbrook for whatever reason, he's still an extremely talented basketball player, who just needs the right situation to thrive, because that can eventually lead to the right mental space. Westbrook looked really good when he's on the floor with people who can actually hit 3 pointers, coupled with zero pressure to perform.
