Woke boycott failure: Harry Potter game and NEW HBO Series making Transactivsts mad like Megatron

I've looked a bit into her stance on this issue and its a lot more nuanced. I guess that shouldn't come as a surprise.

She's said plenty of things that boil down to her thinking Transwomen are not women but also they should not have access to women spaces... on the surface. Her real position is that transwomen are fine in women spaces if they have taken hormones and/or made a more physical transition. From her POV it makes sense, as she's always been a staunch feminist, she fears the extreme case of someone pretending to be a woman to then take advantage of women spaces.

She has a lot going on up there, her own trauma of domestic abuse that she was a victim of and her own admitting that she has at times despised being born a woman. So I agree, it's something a lot more complex than bigotry going on there. It's not a Matt Walsh kind of thing going on.

She's also liked a bunch of tweets and such of people who are clearly transphobic. Now she claims she was writing a book (and she has) and doing character research and as such liked tweets so that she could more easily reference them. Believable, in my opinion at least.

In the end, her main argument has been that biological women have a different lived experience than transwomen do, which is, undoubtedly true. Even if say science makes it so transwomen can also menstruate and give birth, it would still technically be a different lived experience since at one point they were not a 'woman'.

Her main point isn't really against honest transwomen but men that pretend to be women to abuse women and even she recognizes these are rare cases and most transwomen are victims of male violence. She seems fine with transwomen if they actually commit to being transwomen.

JK Rowling's main issue it seems to me is that she's used twitter far too much to express her opinions on it. Twitter really is just a terrible place to share political opinions as it forces people to dumb down their thoughts to a few posts.

 

They are full of paranoia because current right wing politicians have targeted them for their 'culture war' and some would love to make it harder for them to even exist.

I think their paranoia is more than warranted in the current climate. When you have GOP politicians threatening to take away medical services from them and make it harder for them to transition then yes, they have every right to be paranoid.

As MLK would say, You don't get to set the timetable for another person's freedom or in this case, tell a group you're not even a part of that they shouldn't be worried when you have a guy that could be president is openly against their community.

If we didn't have actual politicians wanting to make it legally harder for them to exist, then I'd agree, it's paranoia...but since it's a very real reality they face, paranoia and concern is the correct reaction from them.

Their paranoia doesn't stem from a Harry Potter game or some Dave Chappelle stand up, their paranoia stems from the idea that it is becoming socially cool to mock and insult them, which dehumanizes them, which then makes it all that much easier for some GOP politician to garner support for discriminatory policies that hurt them.

I'm shocked that the right wingers aren't boycotting the game after finding out that there is a transgender character in the game.

I mean I really thought they would be screaming about the indoctrination to their children here. I guess they have to defend the game against the wokesters before they become wokesters themselves.

Tinman actively thinks about these "wokesters" more than the actual general public. I would have never been aware of any of these "boycotts" or "outrage" if not for Tinman posts in the Hangout.

These outrage artists are very much in their own echo chamber on twitter or reddit, I doubt anyone actually thinks about them other than right leaning people looking for outrage.

 

For every single individual human on the planet that has advocated for a boycott on social media there are 10 YouTube videos outraged about the boycott. It's that bad.
