Trump's bad behavior continues to follow him ... Judge rules that Peter Strzok and Lisa Page can depose Donald Trump: report
related Has Lisa Page Inherited The Mantle From Monica Lewinsky? https://www.forbes.com/sites/patric...-mantle-from-monica-lewinsky/?sh=6f380fdb7685 excerpt: Former FBI Attorney Lisa C. Page is a victim of what some would call slut shaming on a national scale. She may even have inherited the mantle from Monica Lewinsky, the 22-year-old White House intern who in 1998 caught the roving eye of then-President Bill Clinton. There are, of course, major differences between Page, 40, and Lewinsky, who was a naive young woman who was starting her career. Page was a senior attorney at the FBI and a married mother of two who was having an extramarital affair with FBI Deputy Assistant Director Peter Strzok, also married, while both were investigating possible Russian interference in the 2016 election. A focus of the investigation was allegations that members of Trump’s presidential campaign had coordinated with the Russian Government. Page filed a federal lawsuit this week alleging the FBI violated her privacy when it released 375 text messages between her and Strzok to the press. Among other things, the texts showed Page bemoaning the prospect of a Trump presidency, declaring her support for Trump’s Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, and calling Trump “loathsome,” an "idiot" and a "douche." more at the link
The Memo: Trump’s surprise — a slightly conventional campaign https://thehill.com/homenews/campai...ps-surprise-a-slightly-conventional-campaign/ excerpt: Former President Trump is doing something shocking — he’s running a campaign that is starting to look quite conventional. This week alone, Trump has issued several policy proposals. He has announced the hiring of seasoned senior staff in the first-caucus state of Iowa. And he has visited East Palestine, Ohio in the wake of the Feb. 3 train derailment, using the power of his former office to intensify the spotlight on residents — and on himself. Altogether, the current tone is quite different from the tumult the American public has been used to since Trump began his first campaign for the White House almost eight years ago. Trump allies are reveling in the change. “People think they know what to expect of Donald Trump in 2024. They are wrong,” said Michael Caputo, a longtime friend and adviser to the former president. “They recognize the caustic social media messages, they recognize his tactic of giving a nickname to every competitor. But they ain’t seen nothing yet.” Caputo and others note the seasoned campaigners who are around the former president from the start this time around, including senior adviser Susie Wiles, renowned for her knowledge of campaigns in Florida in particular, pollster Tony Fabrizio and policy adviser Vince Haley. Trump has also taken to releasing more detailed proposals than were seen previously, especially during his 2016 seat-of-the-pants campaign. more at the link
you mean that Trump is no longer able to get Fox News to parrot his lies. Trump's age and campaign finances are preventing him from holding more rallies and he might 'incorporate an indictment' into his 2024 message The twice-impeached disgraced Ex-POTUS may be hosting fewer rallies due to his age and comparatively low campaign cash has gotten less attention in the media and raised less money than in previous campaigns if indicted, he may incorporate that into his campaign
Federal investigators examining Trump Media for possible money laundering New York prosecutors expanded criminal inquiry of company last year and examined acceptance of $8m with suspected Russian ties The first $2m payment to Trump Media came in December 2021 when the company was on the brink of collapse after the planned merger with DWAC – that would have unlocked millions for the company – was delayed when the SEC opened an inquiry into whether the arrangement broke regulatory rules. Trump Media needed a bridge loan to keep the company afloat. But it struggled to get financing until DWAC’s chief executive Patrick Orlando sourced a $2m loan wired from Paxum Bank registered in Dominica, according to the wire transfer receipt reviewed by the Guardian. The wire transfer identified Paxum Bank as the beneficial owner, although the promissory note identified an entity called ES Family Trust as the lender. Two months later, an unexpected second $6m payment arrived in Trump Media’s account from ES Family Trust, the transfer receipt showed. In both instances, Orlando declined to provide details about the true identity of the lenders or the origin of the money to Trump Media executives, Trump Media’s since-ousted co-founder turned whistleblower Will Wilkerson recounted in an interview. Though the two payments to Trump Media ostensibly came from two separate entities – first Paxum Bank and second ES Family Trust – the trustee of ES Family Trust, a person called Angel Pacheco, appears to have simultaneously been a director of Paxum Bank. The Russian connection, as being examined by prosecutors in the US attorney’s office for the southern district of New York, centers on a part-owner of Paxum Bank – an individual named Anton Postolnikov, who appears to be a relation of Putin ally Aleksandr Smirnov. Smirnov, who heads the Russia-controlled maritime company Rosmorport, worked in the Central Office of the Russian government until 2017. Before that, Smirnov was the First Deputy Minister of Justice of Russia until 2014, and for most of Putin’s first two terms as president, Smirnov served in the executive office of the president.

Voters of color are a big reason Trump leads the GOP primary https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/19/politics/trump-voters-of-color-analysis/ excerpt: The fact that Trump is doing considerably better among Republican voters of color than White Republicans flies in the face of the fact that many Americans view Trump as racist. . . . But Trump’s overperformance with Republican voters of color makes sense in another way. The Republican primary race right down is breaking down along class lines just like it did during the 2016 primary. Trump’s base is made up of Republicans whose households pull in less than $50,000 a year. He led this group of voters by 22 points over DeSantis in our CNN poll. He trailed DeSantis by 13 points among those GOP voters making at least $50,000 a year. This is a 35 point swing between these two income brackets. more at the link
... Trump Asks Advisers for ‘Battle Plans’ to ‘Attack Mexico’ if Reelected Trump and his MAGAfied Republican Party are pushing plans for military action against drug cartels in Mexico — with or without the Mexican government's consent BY ASAWIN SUEBSAENG, ADAM RAWNSLEY Rolling Stone MARCH 29, 2023 DONALD TRUMP IS asking for a plan to wage war in Mexico, and the Republican Party is eager to give it to him. As he campaigns for a second White House term, Trump has been asking policy advisers for a range of military options aimed at taking on Mexican drug cartels, including strikes that are not sanctioned by Mexico’s government, according to two sources familiar with the situation. “‘Attacking Mexico,’ or whatever you’d like to call it, is something that President Trump has said he wants ‘battle plans’ drawn for,” says one of the sources. “He’s complained about missed opportunities of his first term, and there are a lot of people around him who want fewer missed opportunities in a second Trump presidency.” Trump lieutenants have briefed him on several options that include unilateral military strikes and troop deployments on a sovereign U.S. partner and neighbor, the sources say. One such proposal that Trump has been briefed on this year is an October white paper from the Center for Renewing America, an increasingly influential think tank staffed largely by Trumpist wonks, MAGA loyalists, and veterans of his administration. The policy paper — titled “It’s Time to Wage War on Transnational Drug Cartels” — outlines possible justifications and procedures for the next Republican commander-in-chief to “formally” declare “war against the cartels,” in response to “the mounting bodies of dead Americans from fentanyl poisonings.” In a nod to Mexico’s status as a sovereign nation, the paper calls on the U.S. to “conduct specific military operations to destroy the cartels and enlist the Mexican government in joint operations to target cartel-networked infrastructure, including affiliated factions and enablers with direct action.” However, that “enlistment” of the Mexican government comes with a massive caveat: “It is vital that Mexico not be led to believe that they have veto power to prevent the US from taking the actions necessary to secure its borders and people,” the paper reads. The document cautions about the “risks” of ongoing international wars, but it takes very little off the table in terms of military action. “The goal is to crush cartel networks with full military force in as rapid a fashion as possible. This means expanding the role beyond Special Forces, targeted strikes, and intelligence operations to include elements of the Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard,” it recommends, in a chapter presumptuously labeled, “Tier Four: Victory Phase.” It’s unclear if Trump would be willing to go as far as the CRA paper advocates, but he has been especially keen on sending Special Forces to Mexico and has been talking up the idea for months. The fixation with military action on Mexican soil is not limited to Trump, however. The CRA paper is credited to Ken Cuccinelli, a former Trump official who now backs Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to be the next president of the United States. And a range of GOP lawmakers and figures are proposing legislation aimed at unleashing the U.S. military on Mexico, suggesting that if a Republican wins in 2024, the new president will have ample support — and even possibly face party pressure — for waging war on North American soil. He was indicted by a grand jury, not the democratic party. It's time people understand how our systems work.
It doesn't matter if Trump raises 50 gazillionbazillion dollars off of this. That isn't the point. Contrary to what some wish it be, this wasn't about ruining Trump's political career. It is about holding him accountable for any crimes he's committed. But when it comes to Trump fundraising so much, that might be another topic to address why so many people want to give money to a traitorous indicted potential criminal and what that says about our nation, system, and actual support for the rule of law.
