She's 160 years too late for secession. But it wouldn't be a bad experiment to test out the Hong Kong model with a single US State for a decade. Let the most reddish (or bluish) state secede and be its own independent country for a decade. Allow two years for people to decide to move in or out, and then lock down the border. After 12 years, reintegrate.
Just throwing this out there. If there was ever a hypothetical ideological civil war between the right and left in this country, the right would easily win in a heartbeat. Their decades of military tactical gear fetish would pay off. The right disproportionately own land and guns compared to the left. So this is something the vast majority of leftists already know and are more adverse to wanting that type of smoke compared to the right.

While Republicans might have more guns than Democrats most of the economy is controlled by Democratic leaning areas.
