Post of the year. Great nod to the Beastie Boys/Paul Revere, and I lost it when he did the Alpe impersonation.
1. Houston Rockets: Victor Wembanyama (Metropolitans 92, PF/C, 2004) Another week, another performance with some mesmerizing highlights for Wembanyama, who went for 29 points in a win over JDA Dijon Basket on Friday. He's also totaled 10 assists over his last two games, reminding NBA teams that his passing is just another advantage skill to covet. Picturing his fit in Houston, the Rockets will have to think big with Wembanyama, Alperen Şengün and Jabari Smith. Wembanyama's shooting range, ball-handling, length and mobility should allow him to work interchangeably between the 4 and 5, while Smith may have to adjust to guarding more wings. 18. Houston Rockets (via Clippers): Jalen Hood-Schifino (Indiana, PG/SG, Freshman) Scouts are catching on to Hood-Schifino with Indiana winning and the 6'6", 213-pound guard producing with flashy ball-handling and passing and three-level shot-making.
It’s interesting they have Jarace Walker at 4, he would be a nice consolation if we fall to 5 or 6. His offensive game looks league ready not dissimilar to Banchero.
At this point I don't think anything is set in stone outside of the top two - Victor & Scoot and after that it's a free for all with at least a couple players who could jump ahead of both Thompson twins. They haven't been all that good playing for OTE & that league is just a glorified AAU league and most of them are lacking in fundamentals & they are both terrible shooters - this team has enough guys who can't shoot and neither of them plays a lick of defense. The last place I want to see the Rockets end up is looking at a board with either of them as the highest rated prospect. If they end up with the 3rd pick, that's probably worst case scenario .... Let someone else gamble on guys that raw .... . I've seen a several mocks with Brandon Miller 3 already. The combine could shake this thing up. There's a handful of guys, including Jarace who could end up anywhere from 3-10ish depending upon how their teams finish & how the show / measure @ the combine. I really wonder where Nick Smith jr ends up after missing most of the season, made his return Feb 11th against Mississippi State with 5 points & 1 assist in 17 minutes going 2-7 overall & 1-4 from 3. Not that I want to pick him as I prefer Anthony Black, just thinking he could freefall much like Tyty did last draft. He's been as high as 3 in some earlier mocks and this one has him @ 8. random rambling I guess ....
Offensively, absolutely true. Defensively it’s impossible to tell because the team defense on UH is far superior to the ‘defense’ Silas runs
I’m biased as a Coog alum, but I’d prefer a league ready guy like Walker over another project if we don’t land Wemby or Scoot. Another guy 3 years away could land us into perpetual rebuild if we don’t attract established stars in FA.
B Miller in between the Thompson Twins in the latest Tankathon Rankings. Jarace Walker up to #7. https://www.tankathon.com/big_board
It’s funny Bronny will probably go lottery just to land LeBron. Bronny is good but would likely be a 2nd rounder or UFA after a 3 or 4 year college resume without his Dad being a package deal.
