I am sure we will have right wingers calling to say how they could not vote and MM will come out and say that thousands of cases are being reported but when it comes down to verifying anything we will hear a different story. I think we`ve seen this play out in other states and the stories wind up being bogus. It bothers me that MM is acting like he`s saving democracy, go back to putting up bets and selling OVERPRICED furniture to people who have no credit and then you rip them off on the interest rates. This always reeks of, "my person didn't win so there must be a conspiracy"

The PR of Mattess Mack is so obvious. He has paid off all the local news stations. He'll call the stations saying he's about to do a PR stunt to give away a free sofa to a poor family and all the local stations flock to him and praise him. This has been his tactic for decades and it depresses me that moderate liberal Houstonians on this message board fall for it hook line and sinker.

Republicans in Texas are major hypocrites. I'm sure they are for limiting accessibility and restricting voter rights, banning 24-hour and drive-thru voting, adding additional hurdles to mail-in ballots, and supporting the new proposal by Republicans in TX to ban polling in schools and college campuses.

 

I'm guessing politically the Astros fan base is accross the spectrum and it wouldn't surprise me if it's more right leaning given this is a Texas team.

That said I don't think we should be deciding who should be fans based on their politcal leanings.

 

If there are no legal enforcement of it why do you care if someone people don't want fascists being Houston Astros fan icons?

Being a sports fan is already tribal I don't particularly see the need to get more tribal. I'm presuming all of us are on this board because we are fans of the Rockets and Houston Sports (except for Os and Rockss, those guys are traitors. ). So now we want to divide ourselves even more?

 

Two things can be true at the same time.

It is a fact that Mattress Mack has been very involved in charities.

It is also true that Mattress Mack has profited GREATLY off all of the attention and goodwill that he has received.

This is something that he figured out really early on.

He will call the local news in Houston when he is going to do something charitable (or did when I was still in Houston).

Mattress Mack did not lose any money letting 400 people sleep in his store, he has received incredible amounts of positive press, he was on the local news for weeks afterwards and to this day it is still discussed.

People are complicated and that includes Mattress Mack there are people that have worked with him and had business dealings with him that do not like him - and there are people that have benefitted from his generosity.

My issue with him is that many people in Houston seem oblivious to the fact that he has mixed motives for what he does - he gets to help people, but it is also extremely good for business.

 

Lefty socialist is different then a election denying conspiracy hack. Why are people mixing political parties when this isn't about Republicans or democrats. It's about election denying conspiracies. I don't buy this notion that astros are a right leaning fanbase just because they're a Texas based team. Stros have a huge following on the west coast.
