you’re probably right. If there is any correlation it is tenuous at best. the Internet is full of people drawing conclusions from sketchy correlations, cherry-picking data, etc. This one precipitated a bit of a political storm here last year, which was fascinating.

Another sketchy correlation here on CF is “D.Nix sucks because he’s fat". Is that really why? funny thing is I don’t see the same outrage for fat-shaming Nix as for sissy-shaming Green…

    Interesting sociology.

Fat has a direct correlation with athletic performance. Especially in the NBA. Very few NBA guards with bf% over 20%.

Check out the testosterone of the imprisoned male population, who have nothing to do other than work out and live in a constant environment of danger.
Compare that to the p*rn-addicts who work 10 hours a day behind a desk or counter.

I mean, to be fair, being fat can literally impact your play on the court, painted nails won't.

And I don't even think Nix is fat, he's just wide and not super cut

Cade top 3? The guy who's been worse than Jalen and lacks the athletic upside, on top of being made of glass?

No way Sengun wouldn't be top 5.

I'm surprised Jalen is that high.

I'm surprised he's that low. The dude above him has a easier shot profile, a better team rhwr provides more spacing and is still less efficient than him.

Shows the bias of the players drafted on better teams that get more positive coverage.

The Rockets are a disaster now so any players on that team are going to get disproportionately bad coverage har creates these stupid lists where Green is ranked lower than people like Barnes and Giddey.

In a few years I'm confident Green will be at one and Sengun will be in the top 5. Guys like Barnes and Giddey will drop. Currently they are being inflated by the fact that we're drafted on better teams which means more positive press.

Same. The fact that Jalen is still in the top 5 in anyone's re-draft means that there are still plenty of casuals who are only going off reputation and hype that haven't seen him play outside of highlights.

The fact that Sengun is lower than Green on the list kind of suggests the same. Outside of the one or two delusional Jalen Green superfans who constantly spin his garbage performances, I don't think there's anyone who would argue that Jalen Green was the best player drafted by the Rockets in the 2021 draft.

It’s not a draft meant to rate who has had the best career thus far.

It goes to show how some aren’t willing to let a shitty 2nd season completely negate the perceived potential of these guys before they were drafted.

I don't think D.Nix has more body fat than Marc Gasol, Jokic or Doncic

Well then he can fall back to his generational level skillsets and bball IQ that those others possessed.

Not to mention he's the only franchise player in this draft. :D

Jalen doesn't have super fans on the board. Most everyone agrees he's been awful this season.

Now, we have a few idiots like yourself who think KPJ is a good player. Maybe you should stop eating and actually watch basketball. We all know you spend the majority of your time laying on a sofa anyways

And those players are criticized for being fat. How is this helping your point?

Nix is just not very good. He’s not fat. In fact, I’m guessing he is in better shape than everyone posting on this board. He is thick not fat. It’s like calling Tucker fat. He is just not very good at NBA basketball and should be cut.

these are chubby MVP, All-NBA players, but people keep bringing body fat as a valid predictor of failure. They are probably wrong.
Same with nail polish and fancy dresses: it’s probably wrong to use that as a predictor of softness and ineffectiveness.

My point is that one type of spurious stereotyping invokes outrage here, the other is socially accepted. That was the point of the post.
