Green in yr2 with all the slumps is near Ant Mans yr2 productivity but less efficient. Expected. Ant was NBA ready body build. Green is still a twig. So same goes for defense when Green is on a tanking team and Ant was on a 13th rated defense in year 2 that pushed the Grizzlies to 6 in the playoffs. 2 completely different situations.
Compare him to Cade while he was playing this year, and you just got a few more reb and ast. As expected. Otherwise completely awful efficiency like Jalen too and a negative defender too. Surprise, surprise on a terrible tanking team that's actually worse defensively than the Rockets. Except Jalen is available and the other is already missing whole seasons. You'd have people wanting to trade Cade too and people saying KPj is better and we need to bench Cade.
What about rookie Paolo? A negative defender and after a hot start...not much better than Jalen despite the massive size and nba ready body difference.

Guys like Bobby want to trust analytics to point out that KPj is some good defender and Jalen is the worst ever, but Christian Wood was our best analytical defender last year. Jalen's not a good defender, but neither is the rest of the team. James Harden looks like an elite defender compared to our guys...well because he was on a contending team with good team defense. Kobe was a negative defender basically until he was 23 and just barely above through those peak Shaq/Kobe years and became a negative defender again after Shaq left and then again barely a positive defender during the Pau/Odom/Bynum years and then a negative defender for the rest of his career. LeBron stands around lazily on defense for maybe a decade now and yells at his teammates after getting blown by, but analytics make him look like he's still an elite defender every now and then.

None of our guys pass any eye test defensively except Jabari who you can clearly tell has potential to be elite when he gets stronger, and Tari because of his high energy and disruptive nature. Alpi can put all the effort into it and that's great, but he will never get faster or laterally quicker and he will never get more vertical. Jalen at least can get stronger and more explosive. That's when your coaching and development starts to matter and even then analytics say Kobe was a weak defender, and Lebron one of the greatest ever, yet i'd say they were both equally highly selective with their defensive effort and when it turned on, they could be as good as anyone.

Jalen and Jabari in their final forms-physically can be All-Stars even with their current talent level unchanged.

The Rockets have hurt me. Having hope for them has hurt me.
I'm honestly just clowning around but I think I must have hit multiple nerves. I'm sorry if anybody's squeeze left them in RL. I really am. That stinks. But it doesn't stink as bad as our defense. :D

I did some research for you

I went back about the first 10 drafts and looked around to see who was actually getting jalen green type minutes and jalen green type FGA ... the list was slim btw Green averaged 32 mpg last year and 34 this season. Hes at 14 fga last year , 18 this year . Overall usage % average 26 %

And when young guys DID get that same blank check ... your claim about them not putting up numbers is false .

    2010 draft -
John wall . He was given the keys to the kingdom for sure . He put up 16.5 ppg , so less than jalen , but he was also averaging about 8 assists
the 2-5 picks all got less than 30 mpg their rookie year. Most around 20 . Demarcus cousins earned 28 a game . He averaged 14 and 8 reb . the next year he got 30 mpg and averaged 18 and 10reb. Paul george got low mins his first couple of years

    2011 draft-
    kyrie # 1 pick ... averaged 30 minutes per game . Averaged 18.5 and 5.5
brandon knight got like 32 mpg rookie year and averaged 14 and 4 . There you go .. thats 1
#4 pick Tristian thompson earned 30 by his second year and averaged 11 and 9.5
Kemba walker ( 9 pick ) got up to 34 mpg his second year and averaged 18 and 6

    2012 draft
AD got the keys , he performed
Dion waiters didnt get 30 mpg either of his first 2 years
bradley beal is a pretty good comp . maybe he was slightly worse than green . thats 2
    lillard rocked it

    2013 draft

sucked . not a lot of opportunity given , not a lot deserved .
Oladipo got mins . statistically he was offensively worse than green , but he played good D , im not giving you that one

    2014

the only guy who got major mins early on was Wiggins and he produced.
#4 pick aaron gordon didnt see his mins go over 30 until his 4th season

    2015

    KAT , got mins produced
DLO under 30 mpg . less FGA
Jalil okafor scored 17 ppg rookie year on 30 mpg
    porzingis produced
    booker produced

    2016

simmons hurt first year , got mins next and produced
Ingram ( 2 pick ) didnt even start half his games rookie year . nexy year , got more attempts and produced
jaylen brown didnt have as many FGA in a season as greens rookie year until year 4 . His second year he DID get 30 mpg and an 11.5 fga and only scored 14.5 ppg . But he is more efficient than green was
Jamal Murray (7th ) got 21 mpg first year and second year he got 30 and produced

    2017

Lonzo ball got mins and didnt score as much but produced assists
Jayson Tatum got mins but nowhere near as many FGA
    dearon fox under 30 mpg year 1 , year 2 averaged 17 and 7
lauri markannen got opportunity and produced

    2018

luka , trae , ayton all produced when given mins
    colin sexton produced
    SGA produced

    2019

    Zion produced when not hurt
    Morant produced
RJ barret got mins , but he produced some solid scoring and took less FGA

Im getting tired so im gonna stop .

But guys please stop pretending green is doing amazing . Hes getting a lot of opportunity and is not doing anything other than scoring . Hes not doing that at some unbelievable level compared to his earlier peers either . when that kind of MPG and FGA are thrown around , guys produce .

    I dont hate green .

I want him to succeed .

I want the rockets to be better

but he isnt very good right now and we suck .

    @fchowd0311

heres some data comparing green and his peers .

    Smoke seems real.

Now, is just how people feel about it. Either it's sign of a dangerous fire or a nice welcoming BBQ smell. There's valid reasons from both sides.

The chances skyrocket if Houston snags the first pick.

A line-up of James, Jalen, Jabari, Wemby + 3/D wing would make a lot a sense.

We can tool a team around Harden over the next three years that can win. Bring him home.

bring him home and get rid of KPJ immediately PLEASE

Maybe Harden's fate isn't to win the championship but he knows basketball better than our entire team combined right now

I think if harden would do everything over, he would have never left houston the first time. He would have stuck it out like Damian lillard, funny how nobody in the media ever harasses lillard about not winning a championship like they used to with harden

Harden coming back to Houston is very plausible.

#1- He left to team up and win a ring (requesting trades to established playoff teams) and got his wish of both the Nets and 76ers.
#2- He knew the Rockets were going down hill fast, saw how the Cavs got some draft picks when Lebron left and came back 4 years later to win a ring.
#3- Harden is looking for that last big contract and who better than the Rockets who have favored him before and have the cap to do so.
#4- With the Nets bottoming out now this makes their picks even more valuable. Trading those can easily net them another player to add to this team.
#5- This will all but assure Silas is gone and KPJ is let go (or traded for a 2nd rounder somewhere or even Tucker).

Lastly, Embiid and Dame were hiding their faces while talking to each other during practice of the All-Star game. Can it be that Embiid knows Harden is out and trying to lure Dame to Philly? Conv. seemed pretty intense with Dame listening intently. Speculation but interesting.

I would love the opportunity to see Harden Part Deux and if we do then this draft doesn't matter if we DON'T get Wemby

    C Sengun
    PF Smith
SF Eason or trade (unless we get Wemby)
    SG Green
    PG Harden

The fact that this rockets hater Barkley said it would be a dumb move makes me think it would be a great move similar to when @DaDakota says something, the opposite is usually true.
