He's outscoring his entire draft class? Put up more big games by himself than his entire draft class combined? It's like y'all think every single young kid on a crappy team puts up massive numbers, they really ****in don't though. And he's doing it whilst playing relatively inefficiently. If he gets efficient then those numbers don't stay the same, they get much bigger and better. All y'all act like he has more bad games than good, and he literally scores less than 15 points in 1/5 of his games. Conversely, Sengun scores less than 15 pts in 4/5 of his games and y'all think he's the second coming. It's literal bizzaro world levels of insanity.

So it's arbitrary then? You draft a 12 year old, you give up on them when they are 15? You draft a 50 year old you have to wait till they are 53?

    Sounds solid.

So in your opinion, if Jalen only makes a massive improvement up to the level KPJ is currently at, we should give up on him next year?

KPj a level above Jalen hahahaha He's not even a stair step above Jalen. If Jalen levels up next year, he's on Ant Mans trajectory and level. An All Star. KPj lol..what a clown show this place is.

You do know there's 2 sides of the court right?

Jalen is one of the worst defensive players in the entire league. So even if he was as good offensively as KPJ.... and he's objectively not, he'd still be WAY behind him overall.

SMH I shouldn't be having to explain things like this to casuals that have been around so long.

Simmons and Russillo discussed Houston on the BS Report and had a lot of positive to say. People should chill.

Reread my post, it is the opposite of arbitrary, it is based on hard data. And no, in my opinion that would be a pretty big jump for Jalen, that would show the upward trajectory that you’re looking for rather than a stagnation.

Lol so if Jalen at 22 manages to improve enough to be as good as KPJ at 22 it means Jalen is meant for superstardom but KPJ merely being KPJ at 22 means his upside is capped.

    Make this make sense.

I was an extreme skeptic but Woj dosent go out on the limb with his reports and Green must know something. Then you have Feigan dropping bread crumbs.

Yeah, is that so ridiculous? Look at a player like Giannis - hypothetically if there was a player that looked like year 3 Giannis in his rookie year, then the same in his second, and then the same in his third, surely you would prefer to have someone on Giannis trajectory with massive year over year improvement every single year than this hypothetical stagnant player? I don’t think this a wild concept.

And when did I say anything about superstardom? Don’t put words in my mouth.

Edit: giving it some more thought, he’d probably have to be better than KPJ is now. I take back what I initially said, I don’t think that would be a big enough jump. But it doesn’t change my point about upward trajectory vs stagnation.

We're nearly dead last in the league on both sides of the ball and you want to talk about defense? With what head coach? The worst of all time and the worst head coach of all time wants to focus KPj and you think that's the smart move too. KPj aint passing no eye test either. I would love for KPj to turn into this supposed 3 and D star that you think he somehow is as long as he stops pretending to be a poor mans Harden. Alpi is an elite defender according to those analytics too isn't he? To rely on those stats for the worst team deliberately tanking. SMH indeed.

And lets be real. This is the NBA in the 2020's we're talking about. As if the majority of today's NBA superstars aren't just 1 way-offense only megastars anyway.

Why do you think he needs to show more? To earn his keep? Well, he’s paid like an average player, when you discount all the team options.
What’s the opportunity cost? It;s not money.

He's also gotten the most opportunity to score and that's by a landslide

He might one day be good.

But he doesn't score efficiently (thank goodness he takes as many FT as he does)

He doesn't defend . He doesn't pass . He's not an above average rebounder

He's literally below average at every aspect of the game

    Dude can't make open shots

He gets hot every now and then and puts up a big scoring game because he's taking 20+ shots a game

As for his FT prowess* , I'd rather not rely on that .#1 tends to drop in the playoffs . #2 you might get a reputation as a flopper .

KPJ is a better shooter , better defender and this is even with KPJ zoning out at times and making boneheaded decisions at times

@Williamson if Josh Christopher got same minutes and treatment at green how many ppg would he be averaging?

Also he'd he doing it with giving more effort on D

    14ppg on worse efficiency.

Also Green doesn't get fta by flopping or embellishing. Ftr between playoffs and reg season statistically is roughly the same. The mythical drop in foul calls in playoffs is a myth with a 2 minute intellectually curious rigor on the claim. For Harden ya because refs aren't going to call embellished calls as much
    Green doesn't embellish.

You can tell your lack of actual basketball analysis by not asking the simple question; why dpes Green get to the line a lot for his age at the guard position? What trait does he have that allowed him to do that?

Learn how to analyze the game before making such stupid confident statements.

A big part of the reason the Rockets are so bad defensively is playing Jalen Green major minutes.

He's not a "normal" level of defensive incompetence, he's literally one of the worst in the entire league. Him managing to be merely bad defensively would require a massive improvement.

On top of that, it's not like he's even really a one way player because his offense is inconsistent and highly inefficient. His bag is entirely empty except for a piece of paper that says "go fast and prey a foul is called"

Right now there's simply no comparing Jalen to KPJ because KPJ is better at literally everything.

By all means, keep hope alive for the future, but right now Jalen Green is a terrible player.

Green doesn't have to flop .
With his skeletal Frame any contact sends him sprawling

But if he bulks up like people want him too and he needs to for defense then he's not going to get those calls

I'm actually embarrassed by how many games I've watched during this season. Green is getting a superstar whistle .

And look . Getting to thenline is his greatest and perhaps only strength .

    That's not good

Porter doesn't even try on Defense no more hence it doesn't truly matter.

In basketball the scrawny ones get the lesser calls. Look at the league and the players that got 9+ fta. Prime Jordan when he posted up smaller guards all the time, Wade, prime Kobe who had muscle mass, Harden, Gainnis, big men like Shaq etc

Reggie millers and Steph currys don't get 10 fta a game.

So there is a reason Green gets to the line a lot for his position and age without flopping and it isn't because he's scrawny. I mean there is a plethora of scrawny young players in the league and their ftr is ****. Green isn't getting a "superstar" whistle. That is hilarious. What does that mean? Refs if they are going to give "superstar" treatment it will be to a vet superstar who has proven they are a superstar. They don't reward young potential superstars. In fact those type of players get the shot end of the whistle.

So why is it the case? Hint: you are going to have to praise him for a trait he has.

This shows your fundamental misunderstanding of the game honestly. Going to the line is what we call an "effect". It's the end state. The reasons why he gets to the line can utilize multiple strengths a player has. Now figure out some talents and skillsets that allow a player to get to the line without flopping. Think about where players typically get their fouls called and go from there.

Can you just admit you are nothing more than a box score analyst?

Yeah this is a fair question, and maybe my expectations are too high, but I just want more out of him than being a replacement level guy. I think if you want a replacement level guy you could probably get one for cheaper than kpj. The opportunity cost is that you’re starting him and playing him major minutes instead of trying to develop another guy. For example, if this org thinks tyty has serious potential, he couldn’t play with the starters if kpj is occupying that position. Not that tyty has really shown a whole lot, but those minutes are valuable, and choosing to give them to kpj means they can’t be given to another player.

He doesn't even try and yet might as well be the greatest defensive player ever compared to Jalen.

Being mediocre is amazing compared to being a actively detrimental on that side of the court as Jalen is.

It's really hard to overstate just how pathetic he is defensively.
