Not to be a contrarian, but I think he has a chance to succeed there with all their shooters. Will he make a bone-headed play more often than he should - of course, he's Russ. But the Clipps need another attacker/distributor and Russ can do that.
As long as he learns to stop overdribbling and play off the ball by setting screens and playing defense, it could potentially work out for Russ in Houston Washington Los Angeles Los Angeles.
Westbrook's reluctance to embrace the Clippers load management laws will cause more rift than his play.. He needs to rest 5 days out the week to get along with Kawhi..
Leonard, George, Powell, Morris, Gordon, Mann, Hyland and Zubac all need to be taking more shots than Westbrook on this team for it to even remotely have a chance at working…. But we all know how this goes….Westbrook and his bottom of the league efficiency will end up 3rd on this team in attempts per game, which combined with his low IQ on everything else will yield the same results as always.
I'm starting to believe @RocketsDraftTV when he says Russ is only in the league because he wears dresses.
Still got some Russ defenders in the comments. I'm sure it was Druant/George/Harden/Beal/LeBron/Davis's fault that he didn't work out. I can't think of a player who's played with more superstars in his career.
Personally, I'm just hoping this doesn't eat into Eric Gordon's minutes too much. EGO deserves to have a chance at playing a role for a contender. He just got there and played two games, I think. But if given a chance, I think he can become a solid contributor for the Clippers. (Even though it would probably hurt the Rockets' pick in the process.)
and jalen green can only dream he is their 3rd bro LOL jalen green fans should be suspended from following basketball... if jalen is your favorite player youre not a basketball fan ...thats 100%
Disagree with Reddick's sidekick on change of scenery. Westbrook has been changing his scenery almost every year: HOU (2019), WAS (2020), LAL (2021), now LAC (2023). Athletic guards in their early 30's, where once that leaves them, if they didn't adapt to other skills, they're less useful in the league. Stars becoming journey man. Living off of their reputation and not aging gracefully. Both Wall and Westbrook thought they were too good for HOU, until they realize just how productive they were on other teams. Media insisted that Carmelo still had good years left, and that HOU was "mean" to him. He goes to POR (2 years) and then to LAL (1 year), is now out of the league. Teams don't believe it until they take on the former stars themselves.
I think Westbrook was like 1/10th of the problem that is the Lakers. Blaming him as much as they did was stupid. Clippers seem like a fit to me. Desperate, not really in that group of elite teams, just taking a flyer on him.
I mean off the bench for 15-20 a game for the Clips wouldn't be a bad thing. I think Russ is still a capable player in the league.
I have had the Clips as a surprise team and not a favorite to come out of the West before the buyout. Outside of Boston, Denver, Milwaukee and Memphis, they are really deep. This just adds another unknown X factor. High energy spark plug. I have the East winning this one though.
