Woke boycott failure: Harry Potter game and NEW HBO Series making Transactivsts mad like Megatron

This is not actually how a boycott works, there was no concerted effort made here just random people deciding they weren't going to buy the game because they didn't like JK's opinion. In fact, there are many trans people that bought the game and are against such boycott, so putting them all in one box based on some rando on twitter is silly. Boycotting doesn't have to involve forcing others to do the same, it's more about the intent to punish a company by not buying their product.

I mean you're pumping up a youtube 'activist' that shamed the Sims for letting you create a trans character yet praise another game that lets you do the same thing. I mean the woman made a WHOLE 20+ minute video about how it's not a good thing for The Sims to allow you to make trans characters then turns around and celebrates this game, why? Because it's all a grift.

The success of this game is not some statement against transgenderism, I know some of yall think it is, but most people, the vast majority, DGAF about this desperate conservative culture war. They are buying the game because it looks fun...despite it, by content, being woke. They are not buying this game because they are against 'woke'. The game being successful is not some victory lap for boring traditional conservative culture that you people like to promote

The funniest thing is, if this game wasn't attached to JK at all, these same people, the Melanie mac's, Quarterings, nerdrotics, etc etc would be bashing this game for being 'woke' for all the 'diverse' characters it has. They would go on and on about how a game based in 1800s England has so many non-white people and trans characters. Instead they all ignore it because for them, the grift is simple.

If it is successful? NOT WOKE! GOOD!
If it is not successful? WOKE WOKE WOKE GARBAGE!

I remember the videos about House of the Dragon before it released, how it would be woke garbage...then it hit, was super successful, then they all shut up about it.

Oh I agree with everything said here. I think the people boycotting it just don't want to support JK Rowling. Seems fine with me.

Lol...well the dev team for GTA are definitely woke. You do know the entire series thus far is satirical of american culture and mocking it, right?

Also, none of the protagonists are good people so bragging about the things they do is probably not a good own? It's like how some people don't understand that Eric Cartman is not supposed to be a role model.

 

Nah it'll be great. Rockstar never misses with Red Dead and GTA. Might not be released for a few more years though.

 

And for the record, I agree, people are too sensitive.

My stance on this is that it's FINE if someone wants to boycott JK Rowling by not purchasing Potter stuff, that's cool...but don't try to force others to not do it, especially with flimsy arguments that you are making her...the richest author to ever live if I believe...richer. JK likely doesn't give a flip about the game, I don't think she's even tweeted about it like she does other Potter stuff and she's mostly moved on from Potter IIRC has no input on anything corporations do with the universe. There is nothing people can do about JK, she's already incredibly successful, she's created a book series that will be read for possibly decades after she passes and she's more than financially secure. Don't know about her personal life but it's fair to assume she's won at life.

Since i enjoy sport analogies its like the other MLB fans whining about how the Astros are cheaters. It's very hard to care too much about their whining when we're sitting on two championships.

I bought the game and am really enjoying it so far but not only that, I encourage others to buy it but not only that...I think JK deserves to get paid for potter stuff. She spent her life building that universe and deserves to get paid some % while these corporations will go on to eventually milk her thing. I'm not boycotting her because she disagrees with me on something nor will I insult her talent or pretend like she isn't successful.

If people want to start boycotting artists because they have a controversial belief or whatever, I mean they can have fun with that. I don't think it's very wise to do and I think people are missing out if they don't play the game, especially if they are Potter fans and the dev team has nothing to do with JK anyway.

 

right now I'm more pissed that my rtx 3080 can't even run this game at a steady 60 fps. This is the real scandal here. The recent trend of major studios releasing bad PC ports is really damn annoying. Might as well by the PS5 version of these games and that's crazy to say when you have a PC with a 3080.

Don't think so, most are classified as hate crimes which means they likely don't have any kind of relationship with this person.

I do not think JK or Chappelle have anything to do with violence, but the former, JK, definitely doesn't help at all. She often joins in on the dehumanization of them and it would be rather easy for her to defend trans people every now and then but she doesn't.

When people mock and insult and dehumanize a certain demographic we ALWAYS see a spike in violence against that group. Always. It's like clockwork.

But some of the rhetoric, some of the sentiment that Trans people existing is a threat to society itself...well, that's going to create more and more violence.

 

That's why I always buy the console version if it seems like a console game or something that's meant to be played with controller. Otherwise the PC port is always a mess.

I don't feel wokes should have a place in our two sides of the political spectrum- this is supposedly a small fringe group anyway that believes HK Rowling is somehow responsible for murder (lol) , gluing hands to floors, eating cake off their bulging stomachs and other way more nonsense things I can't even recall off the top of my head , naw pass - I'll practice what I preach to the non wokes on the other side mmkay
