Back to the topic : Velma sucks not because it has evolved characters to the original which is a slippery slope to begin with . it sucks because it has a defined woke agenda , plus it's just bad all around

 

"Top 10 Models" is probably not a representative sample of what a person looked like 2000 years ago in that region.

 

What's a specific example of this defined woke agenda from the show?

 

When the target audience of representation hate this show that is impressive

its still conducive of ethnic color origins regardless is the point. For all we know Jesus looked just as tan with white features as much as ethnic Palestines/ Israelis do today

 

How the different characters are portrayed, There is no blend. All the white characters are goofy by design

take for example …into the spider verse…why did it work? I say it wasn’t woke when it had positive and negative portrayals of all race or sex …it worked because the story involved a person of color succeed and a person of color fail…not just that same with white (Peter Parker and his struggles and redemption) , same with female characters in the show …this is real life ( it did not stick to a specific pov on which race has value or not)

a woke show will never show a real representation of failure and success , that’s the telling characteristic. We all have tendencies to be monsters , black, white, brown, yellow, red..we all have tendencies to do the right thing, …this is reality not pretend, woke shows are the pretend..

There is a clear difference between a woke show with an agenda and a show that has a good story with a mixture of characters ..I’m giving you a specific example of why something that crossed barriers and worked versus something that clearly pandered and did not work

 

What we do do know is that by design woke cartoons and movies or shows will continue to fail as they showed. Like Velma … go cry and deal with it fools

A woke show/cartoon/movie is simply not capable of success to be quite honest ..A movie like into the spider verse worked because,…it had a good story? Why was the story good? Exactly thank you , I proved my point

 

I e never seen someone so obsessed as much with "wokeism" as much as you and ATW.

 

I think people who research this topic know more than you or me on what a typical person of the region would have looked like 2000 years ago. I wouldn’t assume the present day population is a good stand in for that. There’s been a lot of inter-mixing and migration into the region over the last couple thousands years, hasn’t there?

I do find it intriguing that the anti-woke crowd hate woke cartoon characters but worship a woke Jesus.

 

In all honesty...I find it patronizing and insulting that they make Velma "Indian". But not for the reasons anyone here gets. The producers of the show don't get it, and neither does anyone in this thread to be honest. But that's ok. Hardly anyone gets it across the political spectrum.

But making Velma brown isn't the same thing as going after a comedian for their jokes. It's not the same ballpark, and it's not even the same sport.

You didn’t pay attention, check post #225 on the explanation. The story is always good when it does NOT a push a certain narrative on whether a particular sex or race has value …I’ve stated this before but I have no problem with a change of color or sex if the story has a genuine arc of success and failure and depicts that regardless of sex or color . In my view this is not woke.

You can have a father that is a cop, and a good cop at that…you can have an uncle that you idolized that turned out to be a criminal …in a woke show I doubt they would have a black cop as a father in any positive light (actually I’m pretty sure that would never ever happen) let alone anything else that might counter the message…

Maybe you don’t but I clearly see the distinction and I see the failure of woke shows and the characteristics of what I’ve mentioned being completely absent. It’s not as simple as well if the story is good then your saying it’s not woke… no…I’m not saying that ..If the story is good even if the source material changes it’s because it does not adhere to a narrative or a gender driven narrative ….that’s specifically why it worked.

I know as a champion woke defender including all the nonsensicals you feel upset about JK Rowling winning the war because she doesn’t input the narrative but again that’s part of why her stories worked. @tinman

 

I don't believe I have ever defended wokism, only pointed out the hypocrisy of those who attack it and how they also engage in "wokism"

I don't think most people you consider to be "woke" actually care about minorities. No. But I don't think the anti-woke crowd does either. This whole woke vs anti-woke is really a debate for white people who feel guilty vs those who don't want to feel guilty - but neither side actually wants minority voices to be heard.
