The game you couldn’t put down, the story you couldn’t make up. Tetris streaming March 31 on Apple TV+ Taron Egerton stars in a new Apple Original Film inspired by the true story of how one man risked his life to outsmart the KGB and turn Tetris into a worldwide sensation. Tetris is directed by Jon S. Baird and written by Noah Pink. The film’s Executive Producer is Iain MacKenzie. Producers include Matthew Vaughn, Gillian Berrie, Claudia Vaughn, Len Blavatnik, and Gregor Cameron.
This looks pretty awesome! If you haven't heard the history of how Nintendo was able to get the rights for Tetris by smuggling the creator out of Russia, I highly recommend you watch this
I don't think people realize Tetris was completely developed in Soviet era Russia with no intention of being a western video game. Getting the release rights from behind the iron curtain, with multiple factions competing for it, was a wild story. I'm honestly surprised it took this long for a movie to be made about it.
Interested in the story. For sure. But the trailer didn't move me one bit. They should have someone re-edit it.
So uhhh…..I knew…..someone in college who took a mind altering drug (mind you, this was like 30 years or more ago, so please don’t judge this poor soul), and he went over to some small party at someone’s house, and while everyone was shooting the **** in the kitchen, he wandered into the living room and found an NES with Tetris already inserted. He started the game and then Played it for like four or five hours straight. Immediately bought an NES and Tetris the next day. Played it obsessively for a few years and became REALLY good. Crazy dude….can’t believe that moron is still alive.
