I think people are thinking too much into this and this is the sole reason. He knows this will be his last big contract and wants someone who can start the work now behind the scene to structure the best contract possible… likely with Philly. The Rockets aren’t offering Harden a competitive contract unless there’s a subsequent trade to bring in other veteran players. There’s no way Harden would sign on to play on a team where only like 3 guys can buy a beer.
‘24 pick impends. I repeat my oft screed: I hope Ime is not too toxic. Other than the uh, toxicity??? the man is ideal.
Are there still 18 and up clubs in Houston? I remember going to the one in Webster when I was a senior in high school.
You’re asking for too much too fast here and Wemby is as much of a crap shoot as all draft picks are. I think the best case to fast track the rebuild is to draft scoot, sign Harden, trade scoot for another star and then make moves on the margins using the rest of the remaining draft capital while trying to preserve the young talent they have. I’m not saying that the below line up wins a championship, but it would be a good start. 1. Draft Henderson 2. Sign Harden 3. Trade Henderson, KJ Martin and 1 FRP for Dame Dame/KPJ/Tyty Harden/Gup Green/Tate Bari/Tari Sengun/Garuba Would that line up stop anyone? No. Would that line up be fun to watch and out score almost any other team? YES! Would that team attract other vets during free agency and buyout season? I think so. Bring in a vet big and wing and I think they really have a roster that can compete.
If Harden leaves Philly do you guys thing Embiid starts to think about leaving? He’s about to be 29 on his way to 30 If we sign Harden straight up in FA should we offer a top 5 pick(if not 1st pick) and a couple nets picks for Embiid?
Some of you guys out there who haven't watched Harden a ton since he left town are gonna be in for something when you see his defense these days. Dude literally cannot move laterally at all and will let BIG guys blow by him.
Harden is still putting up elite numbers on great efficiency with a usage rate of only just above 24.7%. I just don’t know how much he helps us at his current age though. He still has the burst, he was blowing by Mobley and okoro with ease in that first half
Well, God knows James Harden isn't the youngest NBA player anymore, but I watched last night's game of the 76ers shaking my head. Dude was killing it. And we literally have no point guard. None. (Well, Nix. Ahem.) Morey will likely be forced to pay him the big money, although they did make some luxury-tax moves this year, so they are money-conscious.
Forget Embiid. I want Howard. Imagine a team with both Harden and Dwight Howard being the superstars? We'd be unstoppable
Philly has an interesting decision to make. They have Maxey and other good pieces around Embiid but they wont win a title without this PG Harden. But they at least would remain very strong without Harden. While Harden may be leveraging Philly, but I see it different. I honestly just think he loves Houston and feels bad about how he left. If he loses faith in Philly, maybe he just wants to come home and see if we can build a team around him and see where it goes. I think this version of Harden plays 3-4 very effective years like that. In fact, I just think thats it. I think he wants to come Home.
