I'm honestly surprised anybody would want to revisit this film, which was aight, but pretty forgettable, and ended with a pretty final ending. Seems more like a star looking for something to do, and an IP that someone thought they could trot back out to make a buck, more than a case of a story that just "needs" to be told. 16 years since the original came out? It would be fun if it was about how Will Smith was a legend among zombies 20 years ago, but all the zombies have forgotten about him, and he's roving around the wasteland trying to cash in on his fading star power as a source of terror among the infected. They could call it, "I Was Legend", but that might be a little too on the nose for Smith.
I believe they're going by the dvd alternate ending which was more liked and better received as the ending.
There was an alternate ending.............WTF. The original was ok, I would probably wait til this hit HBO. Not to mention the fact that I dislike WS after his insane slap of CR so I am hoping the zombies get him and then say "this is for chris rock biznitch"
So are they just going to act like everyone forgot the real ending? I mean how do you put that cat back in the bag exactly? It's like "please watch the sequel to the original movie but whatever you do don't go watch the original movie!"
Will’s wife shows up and gives him the look. He then goes out and slaps the vampires into submission. The theatre version will be retconned as a dream.
Well that will certainly take heat off The Rise of Skywalkers ridiculous " the emperor is not really dead" being the worse plot in recent memory.
For those who haven’t seen the alternate ending here it is back to back with the original. I personally like the original much more the alternate ending just seems like a feel good shmaltzy ending not in line with the rest of the movie. If they are going to use that for the sequel and even worse play off the original ending as a dream I’m already skeptical about the sequel.
I really liked I Am Legend. The directing was good, the music was great, and Will Smith was great. I didn't really buy him as the Doctor that saves the world type, but then again neither would Arnold who was originally set to star with Ridley Scott directing back in the late 90s. What held the film back was the uncanny valley CGI. It was bad even back then. I don't see how even the alternate ending leaves room for a sequel. Michael B Jordan is a bad ass though, and Will Smith is a negative at this point so hopefully they kill off Robert Neville and Michael B. Jordan is his son from a new woman and learned everything about the cure ...which what? Mutated again so he's got to find a new more stable cure? IDK. Whatever. He learned all the survival skills from Neville as well. So basically it's a redo of the first movie with Michael B. Jordan without calling it a reboot and the end is he saves turns the female back, nurses her to health and gets her totes preggers. The end. Hopefully with the advancements of CGI, they still realize the mistake they made passing on the prosthetics and makeup and can do a mix this time around
