The year before he was actually bad in run blocking if I remember right? And he does get a lot of penalties. I don't know enough to say how he will do in this scheme.
He's always been a below average run blocker. He's probably the best pass blocker in the league though so the team is stuck between a rock and hard place. I actually believe Tytus could be a fine LT from the time he filled for the injured Tunsil.
Lamar wants a guaranteed contract exceeding what Watson got. That is why the Ravens are balking. We won’t use all our cap for the next 6 years on something like that.
Then who replaces Tytus? They really are between a rock and a hard place. If they trade him we damn sure don’t need a rookie QB, just sign a warm body that can run to take the beating. If they sign him he is going to take a huge chunk out of our cap space.
If we draft a QB, I'm fine with making that investment into Tunsil. A rookie QB will at least give us some flexibility for a few years. Also Tytus is going into the last year of his deal, if he doesn't prove to be the long term solution, we are either drafting and starting a rookie LT or shelling out a pretty penny for a FA that likely won't be as good as Tunsil.
I think RT would be an "easier" position to fill via the draft and Tytus has shown he can handle the responsibility of LT. Not ideal to have rookie OL protecting another rookie QB I agree, but Tunsil has already earned a huge payday from us - Im not ready to give him the money he is expecting for a one dimensional tackle.
