What gives you most reason for optimism as a Rockets fan (Feb. 2023)?

What gives you hope?

  1. Sengun is a pleasure to watch and can be our foundational piece, our franchise player

  2. Green has the potential to become the leading scorer in the NBA

  3. Jabari will figure it out and will become as good as Robert Horry (Big Shot Bob)

  4. We will have a much better coach and coaching staff next year

  5. We will get lucky and will draft Wemby or Scoot

  6. Harden will come back and will help lead us to the promised land

  7. For @Williamson: Josh Christopher will become the next Kobe

  8. Tari will become the best hustle player in the NBA,

  9. TyTy will be the answer at PG - his floater is unstoppable

  10. KMJ will dunk on anyone in his way

    KPJ is the next Harden and will lead us to a championship.

    I'm only reasonably confident on the first two. I really want Jabari to succeed because the idea of his game if developed is so good, but he straight up forgot how to shoot somehow..

    If we don't have a better (or even different) coaching staff next year that'd be rough.

    Can't Sengun be a pleasure to watch and and a key starter without being our "franchise player"?

    Sengun fans are so desperate for him to be the Rockets' superstar and league MVP that they can't imagine a world in which he's just simply great and a key piece of a championship roster.

    We have our pick this year and picks from Brooklyn in the future. I'm also not writing off any prospect who is a sophomore or especially a rookie.

    Teams rarely rebuild quickly and I'm patient. People tend to overlook how teams like Philly, Cleveland, Phoenix, and Sacramento had to be terrible for several years before even sniffing competitiveness. Even OKC, who picked MVPs in three consecutive drafts, had to suck during their rebuild.

    The 2023 draft.

    That is going to play a HUGE role in where the Rockets are in 24 months.

    If the Rockets get Wemby or Henderson, they will be looking pretty good and will have the resources to fill obvious holes.

    That doesn't mean titles, but it means there are things to look forward to and a lot of upside.

    If the Rockets get the #3-4 pick then there is a reason for some optimism.

    Miller can really shoot and has strong offense instincts. Defensively he can be average or a little better.

    Amen Thompson is more of a boom or bust type prospect, but he has a lot of upside and could be the long term solution at point guard.

    Pick 5 or less? Ewww.......... this isn't a very deep draft.
