Alperen Sengun is the Rockets' franchise player

I'm Jewish as well and had some anti semantic comments posted towards me. I kind of let it go. Kind of used to it. Hopefully he grows up. I don't wish death on anyonone

 

I assumed that the account had been hacked. The older content from that poster is a different persona entirely. For the sake of entertainment I don't ignore often but it only took a few interactions to realize this was a no brainer.

 

I never wished it, I just said I wouldn't remotely mourn if it happened. There's a point where toxicity like that takes away any good will I can feel for a person.

When you can't get your daily hate fix from Sengun so you just have to wait for @hakeem94 to say something edgy lol

 

I think it's actually the case that he's both under and overvalued here to the extremes. Here's my take:

-Yes I think the Rockets should be running the offense through him (the rest of this season)
-Yes I think the horrible paint D if mostly attributed to horrible perimeter D
-Yes Silas is garbage (at coaching young players who need coaching at least)
-Yes Sengun will improve
-Yes I think it's possible Sengun could get All-Star votes next year and be in line for MIP.

-No I don't think he's given evidence that he can be a foundational superstar piece
-No he's not good at defense even with horrible perimeter D compounding the problem
-No I don't think on a contending team that you would ever run your offense through him (modern NBA, old school post player)

Obviously more Yes' than No's but the No's are a real thing. Sengun is actually pretty good, and has a good future.... BUT... we have alot of people here who are a bit delusional thinking that any NBA team could build around him as a superstar, and be a contender. God I HOPE to be wrong about that, but I see more Scola than Jokic or Pau Gasol with Sengun.... WHICH IS PERFECTLY FINE because Scola is like my favorite Rocket since Hakeem, and a damn good player especially internationally. I think in international games, Turkey has a chance to be really good for a long time mostly because of Sengun. He'll be THAT GOOD in international play.

So that's my attempt at an honest opinion of Sengun at this point but... look... he's very very young still. I think he has a big summer coming up. I'm rooting for the guys hard, but I'm trying hard to also not put on the beer goggles just because every other girl at the bar is a crackhead who smells like boiled eggs.

 

Dont forget about her Planet of the Apes memes and obvious African American insecurities - she has plenty of hate to go around! Its a somewhat terrible tragedy IMO that 99% of the Turkish people I've encountered here have all turned out to be intolerant assholes.

Bravo for saying the quiet part out loud - thats how you handle bullies. So many people that just look the other way because it aligns with their shared love for Sengun. This place has always policed itself and had minimal moderator intervention and this should be no different.

Well said. Questioning things doesn't mean you don't believe in other things. Your points are spot on and those pros/cons are not mutually exclusive.

 

In all honesty, how much do you REALLY think I care about your opinion considering how fast you continually jump to defend somebody whose post history is an A-Z of racism, anti-semitism and insults? Guess what, I wouldn't mourn if David Duke died either, or Dylan Roof. If I was alive at the time I wouldn't have mourned Hitler either. Not everybody is deserving of empathy, some people aren't worth it.

You can't really decide who is the best jumpshooter by looking at fg% or efg% because the better you are, the harder shots you'll have to take and the number of shots are different for players playing different roles. Green is much better jump shooter than Sengun, much better than his efg% would show. (by the way looking at efg% for shots outside 4ft would be a better measure of it, not just efg%)

That said, if you compare fg% for Sengun and Green for different distances, you'll see that Sengun is better except for long midrange, where they are close anyway.

That shows Sengun is very good for someone who is claimed to have no range. He is 20 and he should work on it and it should be a regular part of his game, even if he misses. Current %s do not indicate that he should be at a point to avoid it or he does not have range.
