I'm actually thinking about trading for Hurts since the Game lets me trade for Hurts and a 2024 1st rounder to move down. I've found a few flaws I can exploit like moving up for 1:1 with only our 1:2 and 7:239. I can do this repeatedly and take all but 1:2 and 239 from Chicago including all future picks. The program must utilize at least 2 different value data bases because it tells me I'm making a C- deal doing this but a 49% chance of the deal being accepted. But away from the game, I'd rather take a flyer on a lower round pick for QB. I believe the entire QB class is overvalued.
Why take a QB at all if you are going to wait for a lower round one? We already have multiple lower round picks at QB on the team.
If the team is good, lower round QBs have some success. Higher round QBs struggle on bad teams. When all is said and done, it's still a team game.
You didn’t answer the question. Not success for a handful of games but real success. I could be wrong but I don’t think any team that made the playoffs had a starting QB who was a low round pick with the exception of the 49ers and that was a handful of games with the best defense in football to take the pressure off of him. At some point, you have to bite the bullet and go after a QB to be truly viable.
I would rather wait on the QB until we have a team that can protect him. I'm thinking of Carr in the Texans early years who was much better than the rest of the team and Archie Manning on those Saints teams.
In a way, you just repeated my point. SF just showed even a lower round pick can succeed when surrounded by a good team. And the plethora of high round pick that fail on bad teams speaks for itself. I simply make a point that a high round QB pick has the most value when surrounded by a good team and we aren't a good team yet. I simply have a mindset from the old days that the best available player is the way to go until the team can make the greatest long term impact with a key player. Build from the inside to the outside starting with the OL and DL. RB and Edge tend to have more immediate impact so are the last pieces in the building program with QB and CB/DB in the middle. It's just old programming on how to build a team from the ground up.
Trade down from 2 to #6 or #9. Get an extra 2nd rounder. Draft Richardson first then at #12 draft Q. Johnston. Draft O and D line in the 2nd.
Don’t care if the colts or anybody for that matter trades and drafts Bryce…will gladly take Anderson at 2.
The Texans need to take Jalen Carter or Will Anderson with the 2 pick. Bryce Young is NOT first round worthy.
Todd McShay: 2023 NFL Mock Draft 2.0: Indianapolis Colts (via mock trade with Chicago Bears): Bryce Young, QB, Alabama Houston Texans — CJ Stroud, QB, Ohio State Arizona Cardinas — Will Anderson Jr., EDGE, Alabama Chicago Bears (via mock trade with Indianapolis Colts) — Jalen Carter, DT, Georgia Seattle Seahawks (via DEN) — Tyree Wilson, EDGE, Texas Tech Detroit Lions (via LAR) — Myles Murphy, EDGE, Clemson Las Vegas Raiders — Will Levis, QB, Kentucky Atlanta Falcons — Peter Skoronski, OT, Northwestern Carolina Panthers — Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida Philadelphia Eagles (via NO) — Bryan Bresee, DT, Clemson
Would anyone trade #12 for Fields? If you think he can make a Hurts esque jump with passing that’s a no brainer. Far from a guarantee to make that type or any sort of jump. I’d bet he’ll remain a Bear
No way I give 12 for Fields. If Chicago is willing to trade him he is not a franchise QB. You are better off just building the trenches and waiting on a QB.
