most importantly we may spent years trying to make him into a star and go nowhere because of it...andrew wiggins comes to mind..he suceeded in the end, but minny still went nowhere just a threadmilling team with ant edwards as well which is a role model for jalen LOL

meanwhile we holding back sengun a REAL 20yr old PHENOM just to make jalen green not look like a total bust and has his feelings hurt

I think you need to check yourself. I respect that you’ve been on the board for a while and so I think some of the stuff gets let go. Disparaging other players to prop up Sengun is fine but you’ve also be going to attack posters far too frequently. I consider that maybe you’re spending too much time on Twitter and the BBS worrying about this team.

My conspiracy is that Sengun like had sex with his or her mother and now really hates Sengun and will do everything in their power to make sure the number one Rockets fan online community absolutely hates him or at least his supporters.

If I wanted people to hate Sengun this is how I would do it.

Is it though? He's only scored 20 or more points in 23% of his games. Incidentally, very similar number of games to the number of games Green's scored 15 points or less. He's scored over 20 points so much more often than Sengun with ease, whilst playing badly, that your "franchise player" looks like he struggles to keep up.

Agree. I don't know that he'll add that to his game, but if he is smart he will. He's slowly adding the floater and mid-range to toolkit. The ability to consistently hit a post fade-away shot (e.g. Devin Booker) would be incredible.

Oh and staying on topic, did I mention that trading him would be stupid...

Might as well put KPJ at 22 in there as he is 19ppg on 55% TS.....

Just couldn't help yourself could you. Now that bum we can trade. :D... I kid. I'm really interested in seeing the offense once he comes back. Could really use his 3pt shooting right now.

You are playing the age game. Here are some of these player's actual stats in the sophmore year. Bradley Beal was drafted in 2012, the TS average for the league at the time was only 54%.

    Jordan Pool Year 2 - 58% TS
    Jaylen Brown Year 2 - 56% TS
    Maxey Year 2 - 59% TS

Green's shooting efficiency numbers are bad no matter how you spin them. They do not show you a trend of anything. Just because a star player from 20 years ago shoot at that percentage, does not mean anything for Green in 2023.

Green's stats last year were good for a rookie, the fact that his efficiency went down in all categories in his second year is very concerning to say the least. As you can see, most of your examples, the players made a leap in their sophmore year in efficiency

Can you elaborate on those three usage, defensive attention, personel around them? Would someone like Curry, Draymond and Klay help young players with efficiency more than Sengun, KPJ and EG? Maybe maybe not. What about output? Like is there a massive output difference where if they scaled to Green's output they would sustain the same efficiency? What's their unassisted fgm rate? Also did these guys experience things like more than one year of development at a college program before joining the league?

Can you bring forth some context. I don't know. Maybe Green would have the exact same scoring efficiency in a Warriors offense. I doubt it but I'm open to your analysis besides regurgitating adjusted ts in explaining why these contextual things don't matter.

Rockets drafted a scorer, and possibly +10 all-star career player. You don't trade players like that, he's put up 40s. Yes his inconsistency gets us mad. But he will get there. Green will be exactly like Lavine.

If you can get a guy that has a defensive and offensive game, and can demand double teams leaving green open, that would be fun to watch. ( Wemby)

Defensively Green going to step up his game? . Can he distribute the ball? Can he do LeBron type things?

probably not, but he's gonna get you 25-30 a night.

14 in the spreadsheat. Did I say 15? If so, was an error...

    Dosunmu
    Wiggins
    Giddey
    Murphy
    Christopher
    Thomas
    Grimes
    Mitchell
    Green
    Cunningham
    Duarte
    Hyland
    Mann
    Suggs

The problem is you can't sit here and talk about others and then ignore that he is having a very good season - he is developing on a very good track.

Great post - one thing I liked was when Sengun was guarding Embiid, Embiid was hesitating a bit, trying to figure out how to attack Sengun, and Green came in and stole the ball from Embiid. Green needs to help more like that. Too often, I just see him floating around in space, guarding no one, and really not helping the team on D. Sengun makes mistakes, but he tries hard most of the time.

None of those guys played in the same era with all the emphasis on 3pt shooting.

Sengun had professional experience. Seems to have helped him...
