My only opposition to that is that he is playing a similar style now, as he was playing in college and he did well. So, it could be a number of things that's the cause; different players, adjustment from college to pros, coaching, etc. I looked at his mechanics and they look fine.
His offensive limitations were well known to anyone paying attention. Missing open shots is unfortunate but I’m hopeful that he can recover rather than it being a fluke college season. What’s most disappointing though has been his defense. To live up to his draft position he needed to have all NBA defensive potential to make up for the offensive deficiencies. Instead so far his defense has been lackluster, seems like anytime some one isos on him they shoot over him with little obstruction.
he is 19 years old. Let's all try to give him just a couple of seasons before we hold him to P.J. Tucker standards
Pfffft. Jabari Smith since his Time here was never asked to b the primary option so your example blows. He's isn't involved in silas offense system and is utilized at best the fourth option on the starting line up. He looks like sht cause he's isn't utilized properly by a sht coach in an offense that's was ran by a sg learning how to play pg. Does he have "it"? Can't really tell cause of his unfortunate situation.
LOL, how did I know you'd say something stupid like that? You are a never ending source of unintentional comedy.
Thank goodness we hit on Sengun and Tari the last two years because the jury is definitely still out on our lottery picks.
Have you considered that he wasn't utilized more because he simply doesn't have a skillset currently that would allow him to play a more central role and take on more roles on offense? He's in this current predicament because he's a very one-dimensional player that also seemingly has lost his one strength (shooting) now.
The silas system where u pass the ball around randomly until someone gets an open shot to shoot isn't a system u want to run with youngsters. We aren't running any pgs who dictates the pace and flow of the game. The way I view it is sure Smith might not even b a great player, but expecting a 19 year old to b great when he's lacking a coach, pg and an actual system is just wild. Folks really like discounting what an actual coach/pg/offense system can do to help a player succeed in the league.
thats why we advise for him to be sent to g league to improve gets more confidence and works on his flaws..its better he goes now instead of in year 2.... if only they sent sengun downthere to work on his jumpshot last year instead of playing 6 minutes a game behind danuel theis
Complex: both things are true. He is having numbers that should have us all concerned, and we haven't been able to provide him with structure to do more. He has the right attitude, gives you something different at the 4 and plays defense to cover for our 2 bigger "stars" right now (Jalen and Sengun). When you decide to build around those 2, your roster needs are more clear. From that perspective, we may be better suited developing Jabari at the 4 and not looking for a quick fix. Im going to edit myself, Sengun is below average at defense despite trying hard. Its not like he does not want to.
At some point you have to stop making excuses for a guy that consistently misses WIDE OPEN shots this badly and think maybe something's not right here lol
Jabari has been the true tank commander this season. I'm far from giving up on him, but does anyone show him his actual stats? His belief in himself/his confidence and his actual production are quite far apart.
