Good points on those differences. It would be interesting to see what they find, but if it's anything unexpected, it probably will be classified. But still, I think balloon surveillance is embarrassing. Something like the U2 and global hawk is much more maneuverable and carry a heavier payload. I guess the advantage of the balloon is that it's so slow moving, you might miss detecting it and it's lower cost to deploy. But it's still so much yesteryear technology (unless again, there is something new we don't know).

I know it came from China but balloons shouldn't and have historically not been identified by what country they came from.
