WTF is wrong with these kids that they bullied a girl, recorded it then texted here more bullying - WTF is wrong with their parents.

I don't know what the hell is going on in these communities....this btw is why social media is a problem that we aren't ready to handle as a society.

What would you do if you were her father?

Poor father. School needs to be held accountable and the bullies need to be locked up. This happens too frequent in schools.

They'd never see the courtroom. I'll leave it at that.

That's awful. She was a pretty girl and was no doubt a sweet kid.

I hate that in today's world people think surprising someone with a sucker punch out of nowhere and/or multiple people beating on one person is somehow something to brag about.

Private education with rich people wasn't any better, at least by my experiences years ago.

So I don't know what the actual answer is.

No, it isn't. These scumbags deserve the same fate that poor girl suffered. Pathetic you would try and defend them. I'm guessing you don't have a daughter (thankfully)

**** it. I'm done with this fake liberty bs.

Every social media site needs to require a driver license number for verification of age. You are under 18? You will NOT have access to social media. Government should do audits and if they find accounts with kids under 18, massive fines for each account.

0- You cannot stop all bullying.
1- Schools should be held accountable when they do not take adequate actions to protect students from bullying (not saying that's the case here, but that's the general idea).
2- Social media platforms should be held accountable when they do not take adequate actions to protect kids from online bullying or harassment.
3- We should fund mental health programs in public schools. While this is an extreme case, there are many kids who are suffering and can benefit from this funding.

Bullying has always existed but social media has allowed it to be magnified. Unfortunately social media exist and I don't think we can completely block children's access to it including posting things like this. We could hold large social media platforms responsible but given how many platforms there are out there along with sharing pics and videos through cell phones without going through a social media platform I'm not sure how much we can control it.

Schools and parents need to take a stronger hand in addressing bullying including teaching more tolerance and patience among children. Parents and others also need to be more willing to listen to their children who are feeling suicidal. I don't think there are fast or easy solutions to these problems.

The smaller platforms have a limited audience reach, making it less harmful. The ROI is clearly in favor of focusing on the larger platforms first. The technology to control online content exists, what's lacking is control. Simple eg: Implementing a "remove this now" button for any user to remove content, with the platform reviewing and reinstating it if appropriate, can help reduce bullying and harassment. Abusers of this safety feature will be removed from the platform, as well as those who push harmful content.

The list of reasons for kids to be allowed on social media gets blown out by the list of reasons for kids not to be allowed on social media. The same happens when comparing lists dealing with whether or not kids should be allowed even to possess a smartphone. Nothing will ever happen though because *puts the tin-foil hat on* the programming that social media and smartphones are doing to kids is too effective to give up.

Yes that sounds like that would be a good solution and I'm not advocating we do nothing. I just think this problem is much deeper. We've tried to control inappropriate content especially from children but such content get's out and get's distribued among children.

When Biden called for investing in research on social media's impact on kids' mental health and called for accountability, both sides clapped. There is political support on both sides. It's up to Biden admin and Congress to take this opportunity to do something about the very real harms to kids' mental health since social media became widespread among kids.

So, I hope this energy to regulate social media (Which I agree with) is the same as gun regulation to protect kids as well.

    Got to be consistent.

Adolescence is really hard and stressful.

I can only imagine how much harder it is now with social media. Now the social pressure and bullying follows you everywhere. No reprieve.

Plus all of your mistakes and cringe behavior are broadcast and saved. I am beyond grateful it didn't exist when I was growing up.

Letting kids onto these angertainment platforms is a terrible idea.

I'll believe it when I see it. Most drug attics addicts of the street drug variety didn't get addicted as adults. As Norm Macdonald once said about smoking, no old guy looks at Joe Camel and thinks, hey, I should start smoking. Social media is a drug, in the end.
