Not disagreeing with you on there being different strategies. Just to add the other strategy is a hybrid where rockets got Francis by trading up in the draft then sucking for a year to get Yao. Trading Francis for tmac and building a team that way. Honestly, I think that tmac, Yao, battier, artist, Lowry team had even a better chance to win a chip then the harden led teams.

So yes there are multiple ways but the best way to do it using the strategy of building through the draft is via tanking. Though I think this tanking process was not started voluntarily. Year 1 with harden trade was def unexpected and no real way to recover from, last year was prob also more unintentional. This year is prob the most intentional but this year also is the year with the most enticing talent available.

as i say... nothing happens in a vacuum... deep draft or top heavy, vet roster w albatross contracts of neg value or youngsters that arent gonna win now but have potential... who's available - at what costs...
and now with the lottery lowering the odds...
younger kids coming in kinda skews the draft where i think more gems can be had late than in the past...
just sayin I'd think real hard before intentionally putting a substandard product on the floor for multiple years in hopes of future salvation - at least from a business stand point... i presume that was Les' view... and i'm a big 'culture' kinda guy... lol

imagine if after Harden had an issue w CP3 we decided to deal Harden instead... i mean D12 - sure, he's a clown - but cmon man if u cant suck it up and deal w CP3s mouth in pursuit of a chip... hindsight being 20/20 - what treasure trove of talent could we have assembled (Hershelesque) had we dealt Harden when his stock was high... lol!

It's not one fluke good game, check his stats in his last 11 games that were posted, and those include 2 games where he was dealing with injury which were his worst games (possibly of the season). If not for those his average would be even higher.

Also every GM or coach would prefer to draft a guy that has some great games and some bad games, as opposed to being consistently mediocre. Those good games are a glimpse of what the player is capable of being. Those bad games are learning and development opportunities.

We are comparing him to Green who is like top 6 all time in amount of 30+ pt games before turning 21.

He really isn't chucking though (Thomas).

He has got minutes the last 6 games basically.

Over the last 6 games he is averaging:

    31 minutes a game
    33 points a game
    10 free throws a game
    50% from the floor
    Over 40% from 3

He is a scoring machine and always has been, and is actually solidly efficient taking lots of shots. He can sleep walk to 25 points.

The issue with him is that he doesn't get a lot of assists, he doesn't rebound better than average and he isn't a good defender.

The only things he does well is shoot and score buckets.

I think he could score over 25 points a night as a featured scorer on the Nets, and its going to sound crazy, but with Ben Simmons passing to him, with all the shooters they have and the lack of another top end scorer, he could push 30 points a night on 20+ shots a night.

He is a franchise type scorer but not a franchise player.

He is still only 21 years old, but isn't 6'4" like listed, he is probably 6'2" with a 6'8" wingspan and great scorer instincts.

Defenses pay attention to Cam Thomas. Teams know that he is a very gifted scorer. He was being doubled some the last few games.

Thomas has all world scoring instincts and is a good shooter. He can lay teams out and I think he will scorer a lot of points.

However, there is a reason he wasn't taken in the top 10.

He has some physical limitations that Jalen Green does not have.

Thomas is maybe 6'2" and while he has great instincts, he isn't the athlete that Jalen Green is.

Thomas also doesn't really have good passing skills.

So while Green has been criticized as being one dimensional, Thomas takes it to another level.

Also, for as awesome as Thomas is as a scorer, he will be hunted down defensively in the playoffs. The only way he will survive is with a very tall point guard next to him that can defend.

Jalen Green is the superior prospect and will likely be the better all around player.

Wondering what those people snickering at Thomas' shot numbers last night are thinking this first half with multiple air balls.

LOL okay....overall he's been trash, but spin it however you want.

We always get these kinds of overreactions when he has a legitimately good offensive game once every few weeks. It never gets old.

He does well so infrequently that unless I'm not busy for literally every game I could easily miss them all... it's not some conspiracy lol

seems to be doing well only when his 3s are falling and its very rare since 3s are volatile by nature and he takes the worst 3s...should be living at the rim because hes an athletic freak

Cause some random guy on Twitter said so? Aren’t you a Sengun stan? I would have thought by now that you’d realize part of Senguns success hinges on having scorer like green beside him, nobody else on the Rockets is capable of going on an outburst like green does except maybe Kpj.

Naturally that’s something you’d root for, but hey maybe that’s just me

That's not a random guy, that's literally that poster's own twitter account that they spam all over the forum.

If I'm not mistaken, the Nets have now lost 3 of their last 4. Cam Thomas is leading them to the promised land.

7-12 for 14 points in 18 minutes against the 76ers doesn't look too bad tho
