Vasquez was here when they were already trying to get ABs for what they thought would be a very good Mancini.

Castro's ABs would have come at the expense of the likes of Yordan and Brantley, who were the primary DHes that year.

In both cases, there was simply no need for trying to get non-catching ABs for the catcher. If Diaz's bat isn't better than the alternatives, there's no reason to put him in there. Neither case shows that Dusty wouldn't use a superior batter because he doesn't want to use his backup catcher as a different position.

On Vasquez, there were only 7 hitters (including Mancini) that hit better than Vasquez that were healthy in August (min 40 ABs).

The Astros didn't win every game. There were plenty of opportunities to bring in both as PHs for Dubon, Meyers, Siri, and Maldy.

The majority of the population has never heard of Oxy the drug or the oil company (Oxidental Petrolium). And an even larger percentage do not care.

Diaz was the least effective catcher in winter ball.

I thought when I read this it was too low a deal, and it was by a considerable amount (9 million vs 13 million per).

That’s a pretty fair deal for Javier. Probably 2/44 for his FA years. Starting at 3M he was probably only going to make 20M in his Arb years. I already love this new GM.
    Urquidy- 5-40
    garcia- 6-50
    Brown- 8/82
    Framber- 5-85
    Tucker- 10/250
    Peña- 9/100
    Yordan- 2 (more) for 60.
keep this window wide open through the end of the decade.

I find that very very hard to believe. Oil company for sure. Hell I wasn’t sure what they did.

But I thought Oxy the drug was common knowledge. Is that not true?

If the cost to extend tuck is that a couple thousand kids have to be accidently compelled to do oxy, then im good with that. I find 99% of kids annoying.

You live in Austin? Most of the people you know are probably familiar with the term oxy. The further you get from the city the fewer people familiar with it there are. I live in a place, not a city or town or even a village just a named place. I have never heard it come up. Not even once. A lot of Texans live a lot further out in the sticks than I do.

I believe he won b2b mvps, then "slacked" off for a bit, then won another one.

Top 3 are far and away the 3 best teams on paper. Where you put the 3 is the debate.

    I don't get the Giants at 9.
