I’m cool with that aspect that it would have been better to open up Gordon’s spot in the rotation to open up minutes for Christopher, KJ, etc.

In terms of comp though, the whole reason Gordon didn’t get traded last deadline was because we couldn’t get a future first and/or had to take back longer salary.

Getting a better chance at a better prospect a year later rather than another shot at the end of the last draft is more in line with the type of roster construction needed. If the current 28 to 18 spread holds (could get narrower or wider) it usually takes a top 10ish protected pick in the next draft to make that trade on draft night, though it’s also going to be more for a specific targeted player.

So Stone kind of got what he wanted in terms of comp by waiting, but it may have been at the expense of development, though a lot of things around here have been.

I’ll put some money on the Lakers, Nuggets and Milwaukee.

The Lakers didn’t get the upside of Kyrie, but they are one of the few teams that can get value out of D’Angelo Russell because they don’t need him to be a point guard and they can use him to shoot and stretch the defense.
Malik Beasley gives them depth, he can hit volume 3’s and play multiple spots.

Jared Vanderbilt can defend well and stretches their rotation.

I don’t think the Lakers are winning the title to be clear, but at 25 to 1 odds? With a wide open West?

LeBron/Davis/Russell is a good trio and at least they have other players that are rotation type talent.

As far as taking back longer salary - we were being asked to take back contracts the SAME length as Gordon’s.

At the end of the day Gordon and the trade will likely have little impact on the Rockets long term.

Well, I'll say it too. There was always something missing from Wall's game that the athleticism couldn't hide and when the athleticism started to wane, it became obvious he was just a top tier JAG. Watching him in college and the first year or so in the NBA was crazy. Everyone around him was walking in sand compared to his speed. I don't know anything about the drinking and such, but after a while, you could sense he was wasting potential. I guess that's always a danger with the hyper-talented--that even at the highest levels they can rely on physical talent for the most part and so there is no incentive to take the next step--or maybe you fool yourself into thinking you're already maxed out. But man, what could have been if he had dedicated himself to his craft and taken care of his body. In some ways, he reminds me of David "Skywalker" Thompson who had a spectacular but relatively short NBA career relying on his physical attributes before injuries and personal choices put him out of the NBA by age 30.

What always got me was that he never learned how to shoot, man was a sub 33% three point shooter for his entire career, it really hits a player who relies entirely on speed and burst when his defender can just retreat to the paint all the time. Beal had no business being the best player on those wizards teams.

I think it may be harder for the Rockets to get something for low 1st round picks as well. Other teams know they don't need more than one rookie next season.

No, not a travel, he gathered, took 2 steps, the ball was knocked loose by the defender, then Gordon regained possession of the ball and shot.

yup clearly a travel gordon lost the ball himself. nobody touches it

BTG claiming the defender knocks it loose. Nope. WRONG. Someone explain how Donte knocks the ball loose when both hands are in the air and at no point does he swipe for the ball. EG simply loses the ball on his own as usual. LOL another day of being wrong

Check your eyes, the ball hits the defender's hip which is what knocks it loose.

Honestly I didn't think I'd have to spell that out to anyone....but I often overestimate my audience.

LMAO its a travel. his "hip" doesn't do a damn thing to make it not a travel.

your geezer eyes has cataracts. perfect example of a wannabe who loves to act like they know wtf they're talking about but have no clue.

someone is really trying to say a hip reached out and slapped the ball. just flat out embarrassing
