Honestly gonna miss EG's strong finishes at the rim & 30 ft bombs, along w/ the boneheded defenisve errors & TO's but yeah he's def earned his stripes as a Houston legend... good luck my man & thanks for all the memories (good & bad)
I like the trade actually...instead of getting useless 2nd round picks, with the pick swap they got for Gordon now moves the Bucks pick 10-12 spots
What are we going to do with 2 more developing players added to the 7 FRPs from the last 2 years and KPJ - I mean......we are YEARS AWAY....unless we trade picks for better players. DD
^^^ Other teams had proposals that included late first-round picks in this year’s draft, sources said, but the Rockets weren’t particularly interested in the prospect of potentially adding three more rookies to an already incredibly young roster. Houston was able to negotiate swap rights with the Clippers and the upside of moving higher up in the draft with a pick already under their control was deemed more valuable than adding an additional pick. The Rockets have added several first-round selections over the past two seasons and have struggled with finding adequate minutes for everyone. The nature of Houston’s added draft capital is a bit complex so here’s the best explanation of what happened today: The Rockets and Clippers went back and forth over protections of the first-round pick but settled on a top-6 protection, a team source said. Because of the 2019 Paul George blockbuster, the Thunder have the right to swap their first-round pick with the Clippers’ 2023 first. The Thunder will receive the better of the two, leaving the Clippers with the worse of the two. When P.J. Tucker was traded to the Bucks in 2021, the Rockets received Milwaukee’s 2023 first. Now, with the Gordon-to-Clippers trade, Houston now has the right to swap that pick with whatever the Thunder leave the Clippers with — as long as that pick is outside the top six. In addition, the Rockets added longtime swingman Danny Green and veteran point guard John Wall. Wall was only included to match salaries and will be waived, sources said, but because of how soon the window shut, there are still ongoing discussions regarding Green, Holiday and Kaminsky. From the outside looking in, holding on to Green and Holiday could be beneficial between now and the end of the season. Both are experienced two-way veterans that could help Houston’s remaining young core over the next few months. But there’s also the reality that names like Green, Holiday and to a lesser extent, Kaminsky should be attractive on the open market. Green is in the final year of his deal but is an example of a two-way wing the team would pursue this summer, meaning Houston’s brass has to evaluate whether or not it makes more sense to keep him on the roster and get an early look or allow him to latch on with a contender for the playoffs. Green’s been described as a positive locker room presence in the past, but those discussions are ongoing. Assuming the Rockets had ready-made replacements in place, moving on from these names would be easier.
You know ur players already it's gonna be their 3rd year..some are gonna be trade ..kpj should play sf but who knows ..it depends on what pick they get ..but they gonna start making moves and has 60 mil cap space now with these trades. If they would have waited till off-season to make the same moves they would only have 49 -52 mil..theyll have assets they make moves ..but we all know they tanking for wemby and that's why I didn't have expectations this year but next year gonna show lot about these guys
I will always like Eric Gordon. I miss him already. The trade is good for our Rockets and for the Clippers as well.
You just answered your own question. You can never have too many draft picks. They’re hot commodities.
This is what got them Cam. Stone was patiently waiting for a deal to get a first round pick. If Cam turns out to be a great player, Stone should be considered to be one of the best GMs in the NBA.
Anil Gogna: Eric Gordon’s $20.9M contract which becomes Fully GTD on June 28 currently has $0 GTD. If the Clippers replaced his contract with a Rookie Minimum contract, they would save $108M in just their projected Luxury Tax bill for next season.
And just think. . . it could have been Top 5 pick Cam Whitmore! Man that stings!! I bet the Clippers regret the trade now.
Aren't the paper Clips in win now mode? They would've traded the pick to us or Indy on draft night. I'm sure Balmer can pay the tax by asking Satella to say ChatGPT five times in an interview.
