i agree and respect that. but ultimately we have to move on from missed oppurtunites, and judge the current landscape and what we got. I think Stone got solid value in this market. Wasnt as good as last years market but no use crying over spilled milk anymore imo.

if im judging on this market alone, i think he did well, and i hope he learned to better capitilize on timing windows going forward.

I seriously doubt any team is moving down 5+ spots in this draft just for SRPs.

They don't have to leap-frog a bunch of people in the West..... there is Brooklyn, Miami, Cleveland and New York all right there....... in the West Durant is likely to miss more time (injured right now) and they are likely to rest him some down the stretch, and they lack the depth to be too good without him.

That would put the pick around 22-23

They traded Kennard and Wall for Hyland and Gordon. Seems pretty lateral. I have spent zero time watching the other 3 players this year but from an advanced stat perspective it’s basically equal.

I have to wonder about Hyland’s actual value since the Nuggets traded him for 2 second rounders.

The Rockets moved down three last year for a pair of second rounders.

Also, this draft is not terribly special outside the top.

Maybe the Rockets get a player they would otherwise not get, but objectively, the Rockets got less than the value of a 1st rounder in this trade, and closer to a hanfdul of seconds.

it isn't equal. Wall is now trash. kennard was nothing more than a shooter. Both players coming in are easily upgrades and rotational players you can rely on. Obviously more so with EG now surrounded with actual proven nba players

What’s with all the hate? You guys act like we were winning anything this year anyway.

It’s been pointless to win since Harden left. We now have cap space, draft capital, and young talent. This needs to be our last year of tanking. (Hopefully we get Wemby or Scoot). Then we focus on winning. Brooklyn couldnt have imploded at a better time, which now preserves our draft future through 2027. I honestly couldnt have imagined a better tank.

NOW we need a coach for next year. If we continue this level of suck through next year, then we worry.

*18th pick is worth about 27% as much as 1st overall.
28th pick is worth about 14% as much as 1st overall.
Best 2nd round pick is worth 9% as much as 1st overall.

Swapping 28th for 18th is an increase of 13% of the 1st overall pick, which is more than a 2nd round pick.

Please note, teams typically value picks earlier more in trades than actual production based on the source. This would skew the value towards the swap.

Hyland struggles defensively, and was demanding a bigger role and had run ins with the coaches recently.

He should have his defensive issues more easily hidden in LAC, but we will have to see.

I disagree. I’d rather have the chance at a better pick in this draft than another guaranteed low FRP. Lots of talent like in the 17 - 23 range or so.

Maybe we were just doing EG a solid for being the consummate professional. Plus we boost our post-Morey reputation as a player-friendly team.

Yes, I posted about it. The Rockets had offers with a #1 involved AND the Rockets were not taking back salary beyond THIS year.

Were they great #1's? No, not really.... although the Sixers pick wound up being around #20-22 if i remember right.

Hyland has flaws, he is just a good fit because of the other players the Clippers have. Gordon I think is a fairly big upgrade because of the defense and ability to create. This isn't a deal that makes them favorites or anything like that, but it is a solid upgrade and honestly, it is all going to come down to how much George and Leonard play. I think the Rockets pick will be around #22, which is better than #28-29 for sure, but moving up that late in the draft usually isn't that expensive.

It is possible, but I expect them overall to move up 4-6 spots if they are relatively healthy.
