I'm firmly of the belief that the minute Green becomes a real 2 way player this team will be a play-in contender at the minimum. I still laugh at anyone that sees Bradley Beal or Zach Lavine. They simply can't ever do what Green can. If he ever gets the efficiency of Booker, that's minimum Top 10 player in the league. More likely Top 3. But maaaaan is he streaky. He needs to be coached *much* harder (Silas should just pretend he's a white Euro center).
People didn't watch young Beal, Lavine and Booker. They they did not have the dribble seperation ability that Green has. Booker and Lavine were better shooters but that's about it. Green is just more advanced in self creation moves and is more athletic than Beal and Booker ehile even though Lavine is or was extremely athletic, his athleticism was more straight line speed oriented with high vertical while Green is more shifty and has more wiggle. His feet are quicker. Watch these players actually play at this age Green is at. There are so many entire game highlights of these guys at Green's age. You people can see them talent difference of Green compared to those. I would say Green being slightly disappointing this season means his trajectory looks really similar to Booker now. But he definitely has more talent than young Booker. He still can and has a high likelihood of maxing out as a Booker type player if he doesn't make some serious adjustments but his ceiling is higher than someone like Booker. He's basically a more athletic more creative ball handling worse shooting version of Booker at 20-21. And that's okay. But he definitely can be more especially with a coaching and system change.
This is a really good point. People are watching those players now and comparing them to Jalen Green. The bigger issue is that we're Rockets fans. We watch every single possession, the good, bad, and ugly. No one can watch all these games, so we watch the Rockets and maybe nationally televised games. Outside of that, we see box scores and highlights of the other guys, which gives an entirely different perspective on top of the fact that it's difficult to remember what they were like when they were younger. Even if you could, you're not sitting their watching full games of them in their 1st or 2nd season to give an accurate analysis.
Sengun getting benched for one minute in the fourth over some mistake is a joke lol. Silas definitely has something against the kid. He should try that one minute stand in the corner timeout punishment for Green and KPJ occasionally.
The average 3 pt percentage among qualified players has changed and has increased around 36.5%-37%. Jalen in his two seasons: 34% I hope he can elevate his long range percentages Booker is known to be a great midrange shooter.
Extremely fair take. Agree with almost everything said, especially in point regarding the kid almost never gets easy shots. Let's hope that next year brings the veteran presence and if not a coaching change then at the very least a change in coaching philosophy (accountability across the board would be nice)
Jalen worries me slightly more than Jabari because of consistency. I see a future where Jabari is a consistent 40% 3 pt shooter and rarely has a bad game. Jalen's streakiness and defensive effort comes and goes like Jekyll and Hyde. He needs to spend the summer bulking up and being able to play defense. He's giving me RyNo vibes with how different he plays home vs away. I don't understand it but hoping with a better staff and better PG he'll be next year what we all hope he can. The Warriors were so good for so long because they could survive if Steph had a bad game. The Harden Rockets did not have the same luxury (Game 6, San Antonio). If Jalen plays well, the Rockets look good. If Jalen plays bad, the Rockets look abysmal. . LOL at them basically saying "we hate KPJ please stop letting him ruin these players".
Going to sleep now and gonna leave you all Jalen Green revolutionaries to entertain this revolutionary thought. Good night sweet nurse!
