Throw away 20 of those minutes. Add more connections to Joel and main story. Expand survivalist Bill moments and show more of the raiders attacking the compound. Suddenly you have an interesting episode that keeps the relevant parts of the story and removes boring garbage and unnecessary expanded love story without losing their important relationship moments. Trims the runtime too. Bam, now you have an amazing episode instead of the skippable episode we got.

I agree with some of your points. See my reply to across110thstreet for how I think would be more relevant and fun to watch.

    You're wrong.

A series would be even more anticipated if the episode and/or Offerman wins an Emmy, which is a strong possibility.

There's 20 years of post apocalyptical history to explore with Nick Offerman (15 with Frank). I think even a short 6 or 8 episode limited series with the same creators, director, etc, would be fantastic. Who doesn't want more Offerman in their lives?

You do know that the only reason people watched episode 3 was because it was under one of the best selling and most popular videos games of all time not because people generally love to watch gay romance dramas.

What can they possibly add to the post apocalyptic genre that we haven't seen in The Walking Dead or 100's of movies.... The reason people tune in is because of the game which features two endearing and well written characters in Joel and Ellie..... Not sure people gonna love the gay romance soap as much.....

Oh, man. Thank you so much. I never realized that once a thing has been done, that subject material/genre will never be done again better and that there is zero interest in anything similar to it ever again Thanks, man. Thank you. My life has changed forever. I'm calling Marvel Studios, James Bond, Fast and Furious, Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, The Hobbit, CSI, Pirates of the Caribbean, Mission Impossible, Toy Story, Jurassic Park, Hunger Games, Transformers, Alien, Predator, Indiana Jones, Bourne, Shrek, Scream, Lion King, Avatar, Dune, Batman and Halloween. Thanks, bro. Salient argument that changed my life. Changed everyone's life. I would say you are the second Jesus but we all know that Jesus can't happen again because he's already happened and no one likes sequels. Thanks. Thank you. Gracis. Good job. Praise the lord. Amen.

When I started watching the series I knew it was based off of a game but knew nothing about the characters. I didn’t know there were gay characters and certainly wasn’t watching it because there might be gay characters.

I liked Episode three because it was well done and exceptionally well acted. After about the first few minutes I didn’t care that they were two guys but could relate to their relationship as much as I could have if it was a man and a woman.

I have seen episode 4 yet but since I’m killing time was thinking about the cordyceps infection.

One thing I appreciate about the series is they the zombies aren’t super powered and somehow defy the laws of physics. Too often in zombie movies the zombies appear to be able to keep on attacking even though they’ve lost much of their bodies. The human body follows physics so you cant move any part of your body without mechanical systems such as tendons and ligaments. Other than magic a zombified human if its Achilles and other leg tendons are cut couldn’t walk. Yet in a things like the Walking Dead and World War Z you see zombies missing big chunks of flesh with even bone exposed not just still moving like normal humans in some cases showing heightened levels of speed and strength.

In the Last of Us it does appear that the zombies still move and function like normal humans other then their minds are hijacked by the fungus. It looks like you can kill them and stop them like you would a normal human and it’s not like if you cut them in half their top half will keep coming after you. That part and the idea of a mind controlling fungal parasite seems scientifically plausible.

Where it gets lets plausible and done just for fright effect, or in the game to make them harder to kill, is the later stages of the zombie development. From the game and the show it says that the zombies go from looking very like humans to being Clickers where most of their head is taken over by the fungus and they move by echolocation. That seems very implausible that would mean the fungus has taken the evolutionary step of not just hijacking’s the mind of its host but giving it another sensory perception. Why would a parasite concerned with propagation do that when it would take less resources and development to keep the hosts own senses intact that work as well if not better than echolocation?

It’s also stated that hosts can last for decades and become Bloaters, completely covered with fungus yet can still move. The problem with that is that if the host is going to remain alive for a long time then it would still have to do stuff like eat and excrete. If one of the first things the fungus does is to take over the hosts mouth that isn’t possible. So either the fungus is somehow keeping the hosts alive, which would be a major expenditure of resources in its part, or the host is eating somehow. Given that it takes lot of food to keep a human alive compared to many other animals it would be hard to keep that many infected humans alive for decades in a post apocalyptic world where agriculture has collapsed. The more likely path would be that the fungus uses the human until resources (glucose and fat reserves) at time of infection start running low and then kills and consumes the rest of them. Infected humans last a few weeks at most.

This is largely how cordyceps infections in ants work. The infected ants become zombified but they aren’t attacking other ants. They then go and climb up a plant stalk and latch on to a high point with their jaws. The fungus gradually kills them in a matter of days and uses up their whole body. It produces a fruiting body (mushrooom) and then spreads its spores. The higher up the infected ant can get the wider the spore dispersal. When a spore infects a new ant the cycle begins.

Following that if cordyceps did jump from insects to humans it might not end up in zombie apocalypse as we might be able to spot the infected individuals before they had a chance to spread the infection.

Because I’m a nerd who is interested in cordyceps and liked Pedro Pascal in other shows and Bella Ramsey as lady Mormont in GOT.

So you were looking up cordyceps and Pedro Pascal, then TLOU popped and decided to give it a go? Or was it because of the huge attention and hype the show was receiving due to it being such an incredibly popular video game franchise that you then found out had interest of yours.

Look, I've given episode 3 props for being well done. Well shot and well performed. I felt that where they took the episode was pointless, it was irrelevant to the story. It was unnecessary and its whole purpose was to show its politics. I hate politics in entertainment, I don't think they belong in entertainment. Wokeism or Conservatism political influence should not be in movies or shows. Episode 3 was made for the woke movement and that's why it will most likely be an odd standalone episode of some sorts when the whole season has ended.
