I read Francis quote from above and assumed it was a first. I'd do it for Tate and a second regardless.

I’d do it for Tate straight up.

He’s a nice player, plus he’s from Houston. If you can sign him to a reasonable extension you probably do it. If not, you don’t bother because Tate is the best veteran on this team for the youngsters to learn from.

I mean, he’s a good player, and good shooter, and we need shooters. He’s only 24 and has improved every year. Not a turn style.

but I can see how Tate is valued across the league; especially with his contract. They are both good role players, but Williams is a much better shooter.

He’s got championship game experience. I’d keep exploring this, especially if it comes with additional draft compensation.

Seriously..... Stone is the guy on Craigslist, Facebook market place or a garage sale asking for $50.00 for an old ass Polo shirt from 2005.

This guy wants multiple #1's for geriatric Eric Gordon..... he wanted multiple #1's for Christian "dumb as" Wood...... he wants a top 10 pick for Kenyon Martin Jr.

The only way this even makes sense to me is if the Celtics know Williams has no interest in returning next year so they're trying to replace him with a role-player who is locked into a quality deal.

What’s the point in Grant Williams? Tate offers a lot of that at a way cheaper price. We need to be focused on using that money for a star, not eat into the cap with a glue guy like Grant Williams. I don’t blame stone, **** no

It has to be for a "better" contract as others have stated. The Celtics have a few high end contracts. Guess they won't be able to afford him.

    * Remember Celtics have to make room to offer Jaylen Brown his next big pay day.
    2022-23 $26,669,643
    2023-24 $28,508,929
    2024-35 UFA

    J. Brown has been on a bargain contract and is due for max / near max.

They have cap restrictions, but cap space is something our team could afford. If you can get a valued player (grant), you do it. The way the tweet sounded like Rockets FO is dismissive; sounds incredulous to me.

Stone has to put himself in other GM's shoes to understand why certain proposals come up and then decide accordingly.

I suspect they want to draft someone big first before making this decision.
