Even that is too much for FVF. Hell KPJ for FVF is questionable. FVF is just as inefficient as Green or KPJ right now and he doesn't have the excuse of being 20-22 years old.
I understand that van fleet is 28 but if you watch him play he is actually a good true point guard and is GREAT at defense . I would rather him lead this team over KPJ any day . I think he would be such a great fit next to green ! He is playing really good I have become a fan of his this year .. if we get lucky and draft wemby I would pull the plug Van Fleet Green KMJ Wemby Sengun yes please Maybe I’m just too desperate to get rid of KPJ lol
Haha might be true but I think he would make for a good leader and it would be a good piece to start with ! He actually plays good defense and TBH I want to separate the head honcho and Jalen green but keep green and replace KPJ
I'd be down but only if we don't get Scoot Henderson. Tyus Jones is my favorite vet target. I know Memphis loves him, but he'll never start there with Ja at PG, and he's 26 and could start on quite a few teams. Not sure how we'd pry him, but next year is the last year of his contract.
No team serious about progress has a player like KPj on the roster. There are players that are slightly above him from a mentality standpoint but they're only tolerated because they're miles better players. This team desperately needs a veteran that can organize the troops. FVV would be perfect but it's not enough. They need someone else that can teach these guys how to be professionals. Ideally someone like a Udonis Haslem type that is no BS and the players will actually listen to. If we don't get Wemby I'm thinking Brandon Miller might be the best option on this team. FVV/Green/Miller/Jabari/Sengun is potent. Also Miller gives us JG insurance in the event that he goes all Prada again this summer and doesn't focus on what he needs to.
Preach. Patience has never been a strong point of our fanbase but they are going to have to suck it up and relax. These players are so young and there's no real veteran leadership. Wait till they grow up.
racial bias is crazy round here ....if jalen green were half as good as sengun hed be glorified and projected as better than micheal jordan in the future this is why tanking never works...both nba gms and fans still working from that old archetype perspective , like its 19th century or something
sengun is young and promising not sure about jalen...seems just like another athletic type that is not a real bb player in the bones...perhaps something from sengun will rubb off on him andrew wiggins grew up and i wasn't impressed what you preach is not patience but defeatism patience is putting in work and effort i dont see that from rockets save sengun and perhaps few others
The reason I made this thread is because green will drop 27 like last night, tomorrow may drop 40,but then he will string 5 games straight after that of 15 or less points on bad efficiency with zero defense. And that is why I think another team will offer the max based on his occasional 40 points in a game, but I don't want to pay a player max money that doesn't bring it every night. In fact last night proves he can be a superstar if he wants but you have games where he completely dissappear and that is not worth the max imo. I'd rather have a player that is a hard worker on defense will give you a consistent 20ppg than a player like green that you know cannot play defense to save his life and you as a fan or coach don't know game to game if he is going to drop 40 or play like crap and score 10. Just to much inconsistency for my liking and I'd rather sell high now while he's young before the rest of the league catches on that it's not silas fault that green is inconsistent. I think even with a new coach nothing with change regarding green . I honestly only like 4 players and I'd trade the rest. Sengun, tyty, tari,Bari. That's it, trade the rest.
Green is a 21 year old kid and you expect him to not improve his consistency? Let's be honest, Green is being hurt by this team having bad development. He has no one to learn from in terms of vets, EG, KPJ are all bad role models. Silas doesn't hold him accountable so he doesn't face any consequence for not playing D or jacking up bad shots. It's basically the worst environment for a young, impressionable player to grow in. The only thing that is in his favor is that he isn't afraid of making mistakes.
So someone like Bari who takes a lot more easier shot attempts than Green on lower volume with most of his makes being assisted from other teammates (unlike Green where most of his makes are self created )while having a lower scoring efficiency than the guy who you say is inconsistent is the keeper?
Jabari’s been bad but he seems to care and puts up effort on defense. But no way he’s Max player either, at this point. The thread is about the max, not sure what the OP means by "Sengun, tyty, tari, Bari". Who’s he projecting to get a max at this point? All four?
At this point this is merely a narrative, not reality based on my viewing. What we know isn't a narrative is that Jabari has a significantly easier shot profile than Green and Green still is a more efficient scorer and that the poster I replied to said that Green's lack of consistency scoring wise makes him feel that Jabari is is more of a keeper. So my statement was a direct reply to that argument made by that poster. Read the comment I replied to.
Like many, I was Mibley all the way predraft. But Green has shown me enough to be content with his selection. I would probably take Anthony Edwards over him but that's about it in terms of young shooting guards. I think Jalen will get better when the team situation gets better. At least that's what I hope.
