When I state what players are, it's stating what they are. By all means, keep hope alive that they'll sprout into a different player one day, but I'm interested in the now. Right now, Jalen is the most detrimental player on the team. Smith is right there behind him. Could those guys be good eventually? Sure, it could happen, but pretending they aren't abysmally terrible right now doesn't help anything.
How’s this different to kpj? His rookie and sophomore seasons were worse then anything jalen has done. He still, to this day, in four years hasn’t been an efficient as rookie jalen. Yet despite that you preach patience because of his talent and all that.
It's not, If this was that early in his career, I would be saying that he looks terrible too....there's a reason he went down to the G league at one point. He had to put in a LOT of work on his game to be where he is today. I'm not necessarily preaching "patience" with KPJ, I'm saying he's ALREADY the 2nd best player on the roster behind only Sengun. His RIGHT NOW is not terrible and his future looks bright. As to Green, his RIGHT NOW is absolutely pathetic and until I see him start to develop some actual basketball skills, he's a question mark at best. He's got elite athleticism, but nothing else, still.
Right, but kpj is 2 years further along then jalen. Kpj at that same point was worse then jalen, and this is the first year he has even looked like he could be in a good team’s rotation (maybe an 8th guy on a good team?). This thread ultimately is pointless because there’s no decision to make at this point.
So if in 2 years Jalen no longer sucks, I'll say that he no longer sucks. Right now, Jalen is the worst player on the worst team in the league. I agree this thread is pointless, because unless he massively improves, no one would consider maxing Jalen.
That's not what happened. He got a very team friendly deal that pays him as a top 20 starting PG to be a starting PG. That said, if Green one day becomes as good as KPJ, I could see him getting a similar kind of deal....but he's got a long way to go.
That’s not what happened? Kpj was a horrific unplayable guy till this year, where he’s just at best a backup guard. Kpj’s first 2 years were way worse then jalens
Sure but I dont think a horrible player is gonna make 1st team all NBA which is what the other dude is sayng. Of course I can write that off. There's a thing called variance. 19 games out of 140+ aint statistically significant. If you want context, a lot of those won games happened when he was injured and Gary Bird was playing outta his mind. Is that Green's fault? I dont think so.
I mean I realize this is the first time some of you houston rockets fans are experiencing a rebuild but damnnnnnn BE PATIENT ! Green is 20 and has shown flashes . I bet you anything that Sacramento kings fans were wanting to get rid of fox when that teams wasn’t winning games and sucked year after year with him on the team… or garland on the Cavs or Booker on the suns . Those teams were atrocious and NOW look at those teams and players !!
Yeah it's so silly at this point how toxic the fanbase is getting. People keep trying to run the narrative that Green's only putting up numbers because he's got the usage, but if it was the case that any player given the minutes can easily pour in buckets regardless of skill, there'd be hundreds more youngsters in NBA history putting up big numbers than there actually are. Hell, forget youngsters, there are veterans who get plenty of opportunity to put up big numbers and never do. Green's going to be just fine. Out of all of our youngsters, Bari's the most concerning and even he just needs a lot more time before any idiotic proclamations of him being a bust.
@Dobbizzle Yeah!! We just have to patient ! I agree that Jabari is the most concerning one but Jalen green broke out after allstar break so I’m willing to give him the rest of this year and next year see how he looks ! If he doesn’t I can see him being a trade piece for a veteran ! I would trade him and kpj for someone like van fleet . He would be the perfect point guard but I wouldn’t trade for him at the trade deadline cause we would win more games . I would wait till after the season… we have a tank to complete so we can have a chance at wemby ! Our future is bright we just have to start surrounding our future core with some good veterans and good pieces ! I think 3 years from now we will look back and laugh at all the people talking ****
