Meanwhile, there's a record-setting heatwave in South America and Chile has a record number of fires:
Do not be surprised if the number hits 100,000 or more. (There are several ways to count fatalities after a disaster like this. Most of the news articles will go by directly killed by falling buildings and such, but keep in mind this is also disrupting food distribution, health care, drinking water, sanitation services, utilities, and who knows what else. Plus, it's during a period of cold and snow in a place with temporary housing for almost 3 million Syrian refugees. The cascading effects will kill some people who survived the initial earthquake and those effects will continue for weeks and maybe months.)
Authorities say situation is worsening at Ohio train derailment site Authorities tell Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 the situation at the site of the train derailment in East Palestine is worsening and that an explosion is likely imminent. https://www.wtae.com/article/east-palestine-ohio-train-wreck/42768369# ______ Didn't they just release this movie on Netflix?
Exactly. Something this big there could be deaths stemming from it for years. Just horrible watching the buildings collapsing. Also this is in Turkey. What's happening across in border in Syria could be much worse and they're not going to have the rescuers and aid in Turkey.
They are about to do a 'controlled release' of vinyl chloride or some other highly explosive chemical -- evac area up to 2 miles -- sounds like a desperation move because those train cars are supposed to vent themselves (I think could be wrong).
Train crash in Ohio... mandatory small town evacuation... I think I already saw this movie. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_8_(2011_film)
Yeah right... ______ Officials say odor not dangerous, urge caution Officials say the smell of chlorine outside is not toxic or dangerous, but that Valley residents should still use caution regarding the outdoors for the time being. Residents across the Valley — including Mahoning, Trumbull counties and beyond — have been reporting a smell like chlorine, bleach, nail polish remover or chemicals following the detonation of the train carrying chemicals that derailed on Friday. https://www.wkbn.com/news/local-new...s-advising-valley-residents-stay-indoors/amp/
