agree, but i think the threadstarter is calling people buttholes who talk about episodes that have already aired, which ive always thought was fair game to discuss. i got called out twice for discussing an episode that had already aired. that was a first for me.
I'm watching the game cut scenes spliced into a whole movie. I agree it's pretty interesting but it doesn't compare to the show. I get a very Uncanny Valley feeling about watching animated cut scenes especially the ones that are very similar to what we see in the show.
I was going to post that. I thought it was pretty funny and great job by Pedro Pascal. "And I'm bisexual too!"
CGI is good enough and cheap enough I think they can do things pretty fast and cheaply. This piece likely has been in the works since The Last of Us Premiered.
For a weekly release show, spoilers aren't necessary for available content. When it's released in binge content like Netflix, I would spoiler since not everyone can binge at the same speed. Movies get spoilers through theatrical releases, afterwards it's some unspecified time.
Man, thank God we moved on from that garbage in episode 3 and got back to the show. So far, episodes 1,2, and 4 are amazing TV. Episode 3 is so bad it is completely skippable and nothing would be missed.
You can always rewatch episode 3 over and over in a loop. It's pretty much a stand-alone episode completely unrelated to the rest of the show.
FYI, doubt it would change your overall opinion (don't think it should), but I did want to point out that video is from the original PS3 release (2013 game released on 2006-era hardware). They re-released it twice since then, including a recent PS5 release (and upcoming PC release), which ups the fidelity quite a bit. Here's a random one I picked from Youtube: And I find it odd watching a new show with scenes very similar to the one from the game I checked out ~10 years ago. ----------- Regarding spoilers, as someone who is familiar with the game's story (and its sequel), I don't really understand the need to spoil anything, even from the episodes that have already aired. It takes very little effort to add a spoiler tag (with a brief description without spoilers). For example... (Episode 4 Spoilers) Spoiler I like how they built up this resistance group vs what they had in the game, but thus far, this Kathleen character doesn't seem that great. Seeing the show's version of Ellie shooting the guy that was trying to kill Joel was interesting (less gore than the game IIRC...which seems to be a running theme with the show). The upcoming episode should be fun, especially with the glimpse of the infected they showed (especially the part with the underground stuff). or if you wanted to do game spoilers: (Spoilers from the video game regarding upcoming episodes) Spoiler I'm ready to be wrecked in the next episode or so, when Henry and Sam die. See, not that hard. Of course, general impressions are always fine without spoiler tags.
Why so defensive bruh? I don’t like when characters act unnecessarily dumb. Also the whole pseudo-government power struggle trope just isn’t interesting to me.
Haven't seen episode 4 yet but I wouldn't be surprised if we don't have many more episodes like 3. It was a woke checklist as I said before and a bunch of people got upset because for some reason they honestly felt like an episode nearly as long as a feature film about two gay men's love life was soooo connected to a zombie apocalypse series.
I'm as anti-woke as any libertarian would be (which also makes me anti anti-woke, lol...just live and let live everyone), but your posts here are so full of paranoia. Just watch the show runners bts stuff after each episode - not everything is a conspiracy.
I've never said anything is a conspiracy, I just think Hollywood has gone insane with the way they are trying to push their woke politics into the film industry. Yeah, things change. Hollywood in the 60's was not the same as the 90's, what people would consider vulgar or sexual 30 years ago in mainstream media is very tame and different than today. However, it took decades for things to start changing. It took a natural course where every once in a while something new pushed the limit just a little bit more. Today, every single movie and show is competing to be the wokest trash possible. They want to push their ideologies and woke politics down everyone's throats as soon as possible and as much as possible. Episode 3 of TLOU was a prime example of an unnecessary episode that no one asked for and that served one purpose. To tell the world "We are woke as can be, watch our show".... And so many dudes admitting that $hit was weird and uncomfortable (Because it is) but still supporting the show because they want to be politically correct and defend their leftist views even if it means watching gay p*rn on HBO....
What was the go with the scene with the ground cracking and rumbling? Spoiler: Spoiler Are we understanding it's infected underneath there and this is going to be where they insert the Bloater coming up out of the ground? If so, on the one hand glad they're getting to the Bloater after missing it last week. On the other hand, hope this isn't their compromise of the basement generator scene.
I'll check it out when I have time. I'm not a gamer so don't watch a lot of cut scenes to begin with. As said the technology is impressive and getting better but I still find with stuff like the Last of Us where human expressions are very important the technology still doesn't feel there yet.
I agree that just adding stuff to be "woke" doesn't really improve things and I don't think people should watch something just because they are being woke. I made those remarks regarding Rings of Power and also pointed out that Tolkein himself had racial descriptions that went against what was shown in Rings of Power. At the same time criticizing something just because it has diverse and LGBTQ characters isn't good either. Especially in this situation where the two characters are in the original source material and are gay. The episode is what is called a bottle show where there is a largely stand alone story in part of a series where there is a larger story arc. Often the are done to give a chance to explore a theme of the overall show or to flesh out the world of the show. That there is more than just the main characters in the world of the show. That is clearly the intent of Episode three to flesh out another aspect of the World of Last of Us and another path that people are taking to survive in it. "Wokeness" shouldn't be the standard to judge a work of art either for or against. There are tons of stuff that is "woke" and terrrible but there are also be good stuff and in this case the writing and acting of this story was outstanding. Just critciizing it because it's about two gay men and because you're upset that you feel Hollywood is pushing politically correct messages is also being obsessed with wokeness.
