Believe it or not Gordon and Tate plays a huge role for us on defense when they want to. Green will likely have to be hidden on defense his entire career

My profession entails me developing young people into leaders in high stress environments. The erratic person (KPJ) rarely makes it. They keep themselves grounded at a lower level. They certainly can make it but it us rare when you have a pretty established pattern of instability in your upbringing and throughout your teens. If mist often ends up where that person is a talented building block but an ancillary asset.

The Jalen proto-type makes it more often. They underachieve, learn and are sometimes under coached. When they flip the “adult time “ trigger they combine lessons learned with a new approach and generally take off. Not being a hot-head is a key indicator. It’s hard to escape that. It is all about the individual and where do they allocate blame? Do they blame themselves or do they blame those around them? That is always the most concerning thing about Porter to me. I know that he has gone a solid year without any published behavioral issues but there is constant blaming of others in his body language that is irrefutable.

The prototype in young people that works the most often is somebody like Alpe. They’ve been a professional because they began working at an extremely young age.

I can watch a 16-year-old do a job and project pretty confidently where they’re going to end up as a 30 year old.

my first job was picking rocks out of a field. Just as it sounds. When I turned 15 and could legally work, my dad gave me a happy birthday call and informed me I started work the next day. The best parenting lesson I can give is that your children should be working before legal age in a household or any other capacity you can find. And then get them a tax paying job the moment they are of age.

The only wild card that I can really think of is the money that these professional athletes make. That could certainly deter Jalen. But if I’m betting on one of KPJ or Green, Im going with Jalen. The KPJs can rarely, if ever get out of their own way. They just dont have the EI for it.

I am not by any means a KPJ Stan but I call premature evaluation on that one.

KPJ might not be a bona-fide 1st option but he could still succeed as the Sixth man, it's up to him to make it work.

He is tremendously skilled for a player but not in a team environment.

There are more ways to survive in the NBA than to be a star.

Sure, thats why I mention they keep themselves grounded as a valuable lower part of the machine. That type of person has the occasional dust up and it holds them back a little bit, but is also part of what makes some special.. Think Ron Artest or Rasheed Wallace.

Jalen is only 20, but he has a long way to go to be a quality NBA player.....and no way he should have been the number 2 pick.

Wait, what? OMFG - we are screwed...that is big headedness.....he needs a coach to break him.

It is what it is man. Until he ups his game, his "haters" are going to have a field day. They never wanted him to succeed, so it's their time to gloat. Nevermind that if they can't develop him it would be a massive set back for the franchise, but it may come to that.

You just have to sit back and accept the gloating. It's their time now. Actual Rockets fans still want him to succeed. Thier are still a few of us left out here.

Probably half of the league would have taken Green at #2. Of the remaining teams that would not have, most of them would have taken him at #3. He may not end up worthy but know one knows that. J wouldn’t prop yourself up so often.

Find me a bunch of posts from May 2021 where you are ranking Green below Mobley, Wagner and Moody. You should take a break from making finite decisions about Green. You thought Dan Langhi was awesome. You don’t know **** until enough time has passed for you to learn.

I want the team to succeed.

I don't want to put players before the brand ever.

I have done that in the past and I won't make the same mistake again.

That doesn't mean I root against any current Rockets players.

I think for example Jabari is goofy but I don't have a bone to pick with him on a personal level.

It's truly hard to root for guys that were way overhyped before the draft.

Can you name any top pick that wasn't hyped? It's the age of media coverage anyone that is being looked at as a top pick is going to get overhyped.
Everyone knows what every teams board looks like and who will go with the top picks and that's why those players get coverage.

$428 to get a photo and a signed object from the player who has done the least with the most amount of time in the entire NBA?? Wow, what an investment

There are differences. In general 2022 was much less hyped than 2021. Banchero was nitpicked a lot in a way that Cade wasn't.
Green and Mobley were hyped a lot more than Jabari (although for some reason Holmgren was hyped a lot in 2022). For fck sake, Jalen Suggs was hyped! I never got this one. Sure he made a big three in the NCAA, but it was banked! Did people think that this was some kind of skill?

I mean... There are other Instagram celebrities who rake-in even more, without having discernible contribution to any productive human endeavor. So people who say, "this is normal", yes it is, for the "influencer" economy it is normal. But this is a basketball fan forum. The fan's POV is valid, too.

On the flip side, you have blind homers that think our team are full of future stars and that things will just work out. It's embarrassing watching people talk up Green and Jabari as having Kobe and Durant potential. We are last for a reason, our players are not as good as many seem to think.
