Little enthusiasm for Biden-Trump rematch seen in new poll https://thehill.com/homenews/campai...asm-for-biden-trump-rematch-seen-in-new-poll/
Same poll they did the other day it showed less then 50% of voters knew we created more jobs than lost over the past year. Less than 30% knew of biden legislative accomplishments even the ones impacting them the most. They have a massive messaging problem and communication issue. They have no idea how to connect to voters. Cable ratings are down the toilet. CNN barely has 100k viewers a day. They keep going on legacy cable news shows and they wonder why nobody knows anything. They need to adapt You can't show me a single bill biden passed with less than majority support. He has a message to sell they just to communicate.
Not really. I am quite used to Republicans and Democrats supporting their team and demonizing the other team. It's just sad to me. No matter who is in power, the issue is the amount of power in the government. Whether it is team red or team blue, they have far exceeded their mandate. At least with team red there is a chance I pay a little bit less. Other than that, both pretty much suck. Also, indictments and convictions are not a good measure of corruption, because most of the corruption is legal and most of the illegal corruption will never be investigated, let alone charged.
I know it's convenient for you, basso, and O's to dismiss objective measures of reality so you can stick with the stories in your head about "both sides" and "they're all the same", or whatever, but just realize that's what you're doing.
How very convenient. Make up your own standard when the legal standard doesn't fit your view. But when it comes to Jan6 attackers, must strictly stick to the legal definition in the book.
I am disagreeing with the tool you are using to measure. If I want to measure the temperature, I need to use a thermometer. If you want to measure corruption, you need to look at money received and influence sold, not indictments or convictions. Keep pretending that you are an unbiased observer of reality and I am a head in the sand partisan though. What is the legal standard of corruption that should be used?
Americans not feeling impact of Biden agenda, Post-ABC poll finds More than 6 in 10 say the president has not accomplished much, despite the passage of numerous bills https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/02/06/poll-americans-dont-feel-biden-impact/ excerpt: Two years into a presidency that the White House casts as the most effective in modern history, President Biden is set to deliver a State of the Union address Tuesday to a skeptical country with a majority of Americans saying they do not believe he has achieved much since taking office, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll. The poll finds that 62 percent of Americans think Biden has accomplished “not very much” or “little or nothing” during his presidency, while 36 percent say he has accomplished “a great deal” or “a good amount.” On many of Biden’s signature initiatives — from improving the country’s infrastructure to making electric vehicles more affordable to creating jobs — majorities of Americans say they do not believe he has made progress, the poll finds. more at the link
weird; I was told by many here that he was no joke, and they would vote for him again. is the D&D out of step with the rest of the country?
Considering we're all a bunch of dorks posting about politics on a Houston Rockets forum, yes; we are out of touch.
I don't think you get it. This literally shows the massive upside in bidens approval. NONE OF THE PUBLIC knows his accomplishments yet he's polling at 45%. The gun legislation hasn't gone into effect UNTIL this year. The infrastructure bill is funding FOURTY FIVE THOUSAND projects in the next 2 years The Medicare part d cap and insulin cap went into effect THIS year His student debt forgiveness is still on hold His ev credits go into effect this year His college education reforms of cutting students loan payments in half go into effect this fall. His chips bill is bringing manufacturing online the next two years. Companies are breaking ground this year. All of his legislation victories havnt been implemented yet and he's still polling decent. You're literally proving the opposite of what you're thinking you're saying. Do you ever think ever? People are checked out of politics in general post trump. CNN/FOXNEWS ratings are both down 60%. CNN is hardly averaging 100k viewers a night. Biden did what he promised to do which was make politics boring again. I work in rural America and the temperature has been brought down alot under biden. People just don't care anymore about politics. It's like dating a crazy girlfriend then breaking up and just wanting life to be boring again. Less people watching cable news is a good thing for society.
There are legal standards of corruption. https://thelawreviews.co.uk/title/the-anti-bribery-and-anti-corruption-review/usa Domestic bribery: legal framework i Elements The primary statute that expressly criminalises corruption of US federal public officials is 18 USC Section 201. The statute has two principal subparts: Section 201(b), which criminalises bribery, and Section 201(c), which prohibits the payment or receipt of gratuities. The primary difference is that Section 201(b) requires proof of a quid pro quo, while the gratuities provision does not. To obtain conviction of the bribe payer under Section 201(b)(1), the government must prove that something of value was given, offered, or promised to a federal public official corruptly to influence an official act. To secure conviction of the person bribed under Section 201(b)(2), the government must show that a public official accepted, solicited or agreed to accept anything of value corruptly in return for 'being influenced in the performance of any official act'. A gratuities conviction only requires that the thing of value be knowingly or wilfully offered or given 'for or because of any official act', rather than corruptly to influence the official act.2 18 USC Section 666 applies when governmental or other entities receive federal programme benefits of over US$10,000. The bribery provisions contained in Section 666(a)(1)(b) penalise an agent of the entity receiving the funds who corruptly solicits, accepts or agrees to accept anything of value 'intending to be influenced or rewarded in connection with any business, transaction, or series of transactions' of the receiving entity involving anything of value of US$5,000 or more. Section 666(a)(2) covers the bribe payer. The Hobbs Act, 18 USC Section 1951, also targets public corruption by criminalising extortion under colour of official right. The Act applies to any public official who 'has obtained a payment to which he was not entitled, knowing that the payment was made in return for official acts'.3 The Supreme Court has held that a conviction for extortion under colour of official right does not require the government to prove that the payment was affirmatively induced by the official; rather, 'the coercive element is provided by the public office itself'.4 The Act also has a broader jurisdictional reach as it can be applied to state public officials so long as the activity 'affects commerce'. This requirement can be satisfied even if the effect is de minimis.5
It’s the unfalsefaibility argument. You can’t prove my argument wrong because the evidence for it can’t be quantified.
I both support Biden and what's he done but also would very much prefer for him not to run. The dude has aged like 10 years since he started campaigning in 2020.... I expect the Dems to lose in 2024 if Biden is running. I don't really care about whatever poll you show me, Biden is both too old and acts too old.
Can you elaborate how exactly he acts too old? He's hosted more global summits thus year alone than any other president in modern history. He's hosted the first ever indo pacific summit in ages and just got the entire Southeast to hop into his own economic framework. You do realize our allies are back with us because of only Biden. How exactly is his age impacting him in any way? Every global leader even those who didn't like us have praised biden for his leadership. People see a 10 second clip versus the daily speeches he gives and run a clip. If anything biden has gotten much sharper in the past 6 months. They've obviously given him some new diet or regime.
