Haven't fully given up on signing Carr and drafting Hooker in the second round but if they take a qb with the first pick I'm leaning Stroud

Speaking with team executives — who were granted anonymity to speak freely — throughout the week, the consensus remains that Alabama’s Bryce Young, Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud and Kentucky’s Will Levis are in the top tier with extremely high-end talent. Florida’s Anthony Richardson is also viewed as a first-round candidate.

Young has most commonly been discussed as the best quarterback in the class, but there are undeniably some nerves over his 5-foot-11, 192-pound frame as it relates to his durability at the professional level. Still, he’s viewed as the most likely option to be the first quarterback off the board in April, whether a team trades up with the Bears for the No. 1 pick or the Texans hold serve and select him at No. 2.

Stroud and Levis are physically impressive quarterbacks who can make plays in and out of the pocket and create off schedule. Though Levis regressed last season without offensive coordinator Liam Coen, a couple of team executives pointed to the notion that Kentucky also wasn’t as talented as it was during his breakout season in 2021 and that Levis might have been trying to make too many plays to lift the team.

Richardson opened eyes with his running ability in his first season as the full-time starter, but he’ll have to refine some passing mechanics in the NFL. He’s still raw, too, with just 13 collegiate starts.

    • The Texans’ hiring of DeMeco Ryans as coach has drawn rave reviews around the league. Ryans, who was previously the 49ers defensive coordinator, is incredibly respected by his peers and has been viewed as a rising star for years. People around the league were also happy Ryans negotiated a six-year contract, which should incentivize the Texans to take a far more patient approach after back-to-back one-and-done coaches — just the third team to do that since the 1970 merger — with their firings of David Culley and Lovie Smith.

None of that is accurate for the games I watched.

Rumor has it that titans are trying to trade up for the 1st pick with the bears but I don’t see bears going all the way down to 11th

Depends on the rest of the package. It would have to include next year’s first and multiple other draft picks this year and next. If their QB drops the Texans might be interested if the rest of the package is significant enough.

The thing that really intrigues me about Richardson is he is a pass first QB who is very mobile.

There's alot to like about Richardson. I've watched tons of tape on him and he does generally make good decisions, has a strong arm, is a great runner. The big weakness on film is that he struggles greatly with accuracy. Seems to be tied to his footwork. He tends to get up on his toes unnecessarily. He also has other issues with his footwork, but I would struggle with picking a QB in the top 10 who is currently mechanically flawed, hoping that I can fix it, because that's never a guarantee.
