China is pissed that the weather ballon, that one of its citizens accidentally let loose, is blocking the view of their spy satellites. Said citizen, when found, will be in need of a visit to a re-education camp.

I am wondering if there is intel that China was counting on the U.S. to shoot it down or otherwise destroy it, and doing so would unleash...I don't know, something. So letting it continue drifting is a strategy/safety decision.

My God, what am I saying? What kind of video game world are we living in these days?

Chinnese have hundreds of low orbit satellites which can gather more info than this garbage can. I'm sure the pentagon just doesn't wanna take any risks shooting it down and having some unknown objects hit the ground.

The pentagon has said its damage area will be close to 20 MILE by MILE. Why in the hell would they shoot it down without knowing all the facts.

my guess is he's just using this balloon thing as an excuse to stay home and watch Rockets games

Blinken Cancels Trip to China After Pentagon Says Spy Balloon Is Over U.S.
The Pentagon called the object, which had been seen flying over Montana, an “intelligence-gathering balloon.” Beijing said it was used mainly for weather research and had strayed off course.

I actually believe that it's some sort of mistake on China's part. Or it's a North Korean something that they're covering for.

I'm not sure what a spy balloon would add other than it being a ****up and spooking out more people to think a war is coming soon.

China releasing a bioweapon like this would be such a blatant attack and potential act of war to many. If war with the United States had any benefit to China wouldn't they have already invaded Taiwan or just openly attacked all of our Pacific fleet? There's no evidence that war with the US is in their interest.

Would they release a bioweapon in a more secretive manner??... maybe but not a bioweapon that negatively affects them like a global pandemic would.

I think people get too wrapped up in Conspiracy theories and think too much about China as a suicidal apocalypse seeking antichrist figure. No they don't want to be buddies with us. Yes they want to provoke us in certain ways. Yes they want the US to be less dominant economically and militarily. However all that rivalry does not mean that they are suicidal.

In the end all China really wants the US to do is remove it's military out of the Pacific so they can dominate the sphere of influence, and want the US to buy their cheap sh$t.

Yeah don't forget that tiktok forces users to give access the app to the microphone and camera lol. Like what the fk do they need a r****ded balloon for. They have over 100 million spies around the nation build into our smartphones. Smartphones are brought to every dining table as kids have to text at dinner. Can you imagine all the data the CCP has on us based upon dinners/lunches. It's so scary.

We need to ban tiktok ASAP.

Pentagon Warns U.S. That They Had Scary Dream About China

WASHINGTON—Still trembling after the “startlingly lifelike” nightmare, Pentagon officials warned the nation Friday that they had a scary dream about China. “China was chasing us, and they had a knife,” said Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, who suggested that the rival superpower could be more of an imminent threat than previously believed after the “super freaky” experience left officials drenched in sweat and “too scared to even go down the hallway for a glass of water.” “We tried to run as fast as we could, but it was right there over our shoulder, laughing, and it had fangs! China tried to bite us! It was like China, but it wasn’t China, do you know what I mean? I know it doesn’t sound that scary, but trust me. It was so bad.” At press time, Austin sheepishly added that Pentagon officials had had a wet dream about Taiwan.
