How do you view the QB position?

We understand we have one QB here and have to add more. QB is one piece to a team as I saw in SF. Is the season over? No. How do you build around that QB? Yes, we want a great QB but we need a great OL, RB, TE, WRs, a great defense and special teams. It’s not on one guy’s shoulder to go win the game. It’s building around each other.

 

Staff?

We want a diverse coaching staff. We want great teachers. We want guys who are positive, guys who can connect with players. We want guys who bring energy, doing it in a fun way, committed to working together, no egos allowed, no energy vampires. We want a positive culture. You want a diverse staff. Players learn differently.

 

Stingley has outstanding talent. Gonna put him in position to make plays, allow him to showcase his talents.

That does excite me, the young talent we have here. I’m most encouraged by seeing a player when people say “They’re not good enough”, that excites me the most. It takes time, it takes belief, pouring everything you have in a young man like Fred Warner. … To now say he’s the best LB in the NFL, I pride myself on that.

 

DR: Everybody has a voice, everybody will be heard. … It’s not about egos or being selfish, it’s about doing the right things for the team. That’s how you build a successful program.

Any one person or text that touched you the most?

It’s been an outpouring of support. So many people have reached out. Former teammates. It’s not one that sticks out. The theme is everyone is proud of me. For me to be in a position to make others proud, that means the world to me. That’s the recurring theme of the messages I’ve gotten. We want to make the City of Houston proud. That’s what makes this special. We know our fans our hungry for a winner and deserve a winner.
