Not sure how this was put together, but it's a trip. The Jefferson Airplane, Joni Mitchell, Stephen Stills and David Crosby guesting and performing on The Dick Cavett Show the day after Woodstock. The 19th of August 1969. It includes the commercials, ancient looking, bringing back memories of the 3 TV channels, all packed with commercials, that were all we had to watch on our tube sets. This is from July 3, 1973 at London’s Hammersmith Odeon, the 2nd night of two evening performances that turned out to be the last of Bowie's Spiders from Mars tour. Jeff Beck sat in for maybe 3 songs, according to the description here.
I'm getting prepared for Holly Day (the day of Buddy Holly's death) on Friday, 2/3. He was a genius and I always wonder how his music would have evolved through the 1960s.
Instead of having it buried in this thread, go ahead and do a thread for Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper. If you like, have it also open for covers of their music. Edit Also include what Rashmon just posted.
At the time, Waylon was playing in Holly's band and the story goes that he gave up his seat on the plane to the Big Bopper.
Manny, you're like a bot. I admire your tenacity in sticking to your lists. Me? I go down rabbit-holes based upon the slightest provocation, whether it's somebody's quip, a song that gets posted, the news, or anything that might remind me of a song or time in life...and then I'm searching YouTube or Google for the song and off I go...
I have been grappling with changing things up on the iPod. I think I am going to stick with jazz and reggae but drop electronic and add funk and soul.
