    Republicans’ 2024 Magical Thinking

Lots of Republicans want Donald Trump to disappear from politics. Their main strategy is hope.

Press them hard enough, and most Republican officials—even the ones with MAGA hats in their closets and Mar-a-Lago selfies in their Twitter avatar—will privately admit that Donald Trump has become a problem. He’s presided over three abysmal election cycles since he took office, he is more unstable than ever, and yet he returned to the campaign trail this past weekend, declaring that he is “angry” and determined to win the GOP presidential nomination again in 2024. Aside from his most blinkered loyalists, virtually everyone in the party agrees: It’s time to move on from Trump.

Some Republicans are clinging to the hope that Trump might finally be undone by his legal troubles. He is currently the subject of multiple criminal investigations, and his detractors dream of an indictment that would derail his campaign.

[Newsweek] MAGA Republican Issues Stark Warning to Ron DeSantis

"Full Warning: If Ron DeSantis announces his run for president in 2024, I will not show him or his supporters any quarter," Dilley tweeted Sunday. "We will meme that disloyal dog into oblivion and make him permanently unelectable just like Ted Cruz."

What a pointless thread. We support DeSantis not Trump. Dumbocrats support idiots like Biden and Harris. Hopefully Trump and Biden go to jail. Adoo just blindly supports dumbocrats

This is why I have a bet with @astros123 that Trump won't be the nominee. There does appear to be many Republicans who recognize that Trump is costing them and likely can't win again. As I said though I'm not all that certain about the bet and Trump does still have a pretty determined following in the GOP. Also GOP primaries reward early winners and Trump declaring early does give him an edge.

I think the only way Biden wins is if trump is the nominee, the gop will not stand up to trump and the donors are so gullible, you have some fringe gop who are saying nicely that they should have more choices but until someone like mccarthy stands up and says he should back down, he will not. No one with any real skin in the game is going to go against trump. Ron D is nothing more than trump 2.0

Oh and this should be really good for the cause

Group 'linked to staunchly conservative causes' will run Super Bowl ads to 'redeem Jesus' brand'

They can do that and if the Republican party wants to run on a platform of Jesus while going after M&M's. They might not be very serious about winning the Presidency or the Senate again.

I did find this part in the article particularly ironic:
"Our research shows that many people’s only exposure to Jesus is through Christians who reflect him imperfectly, and too often in ways that create a distorted or incomplete picture of his radical compassion and love for others,” Vanderground told The Washington Post. “We believe it’s more important now than ever for the real, authentic Jesus to be represented in the public marketplace as he is in the Bible."

Does the current Conservative movement really believe they have "racidal compassion and love for others"?

    Dis you?

Is this what you call "having a conversation"? It's what I think many people would call "acting like a petulant child".

"Hey Jesus can you heal me?"
"Nah Brah, miracles are special. Gotta see Peter to get a referral. By the way, how are you paying?"

So, no comment on acting like a child? Just a sad shot at a pretty common joke phrase. Good try, son.

Why would I comment on it? It's beyond stupid and you're a nobody to me. You barely deserve a response in general. No. It's not common for adults to speak like that.

It's like what I'm sure many of us have said to our kids as they get older..."If you want to act like a toddler, I'll treat you like one."
