If we somehow fall to 6 or 7, Jarace Walker would be a nice addition

I'm actually dreading he goes to OKC and completes their frontcourt next year with him and Chet

I will wait for @Medicine N Music to share his thoughts about prospects.

But I would much like to draft Zach Edey as backup C

    Anything but the Thompson twins.

I don't want dudes that can't do the most fundamental thing in basketball ..... shoot.

They are both terbul, just terbul (in my best Charles Barkley voice). They are off my board for this team. Let someone else gamble on them.

I'm also afraid of Nick Smith jr ....injuries keeping him from playing. Hard to justify that pick if he's not lighting up the NCAA.

I'd take Brandon Miller above all three of those kids at 3-5 and if he wasn't there, just give me Jarace, Whitmore or Black.

Assuming whoever is at 2 won't trade down, which if it happens to be Detroit or Charlotte I have to assume they're at least open to it...assuming that doesn't happen though...and I mean I would trade whatever it took to claim Henderson but assuming they don't want a truckload of assets...

3 probably Amen. Too good of an athlete, on-ball skillset exactly what we need. Thing is, I think you have to move on from Porter and Sengun to support him unless one is willing to stay as 6th man bench captain. You're hoping he's a taller Russell Westbrook who can get down on D. Then you got a 6'7" piece of lightning getting to the rim and kicking out to shooters. Amen Thompson-Green-Eason-Smith-Myles Turner would be the idealized lineup for him to succeed imo.

I think at 4 or 5 I'm probably going to go for Jarace Walker. He's built like Lebron, has an unpolished but effective offense and is probably the best, most versatile defender in the draft. I want the freight train from UH.

Brandon Miller is tailor made for Detroit. If I'm the Rockets GM, whoever that is in June, I line up a potential trade to Detroit for the #2 pick if it goes that way. Orlando, Detroit and Hornets are all potential trade targets and could all use Miller.

Orlando scares the hell out of me come draft-time. They could end up having the best shot at landing Wemby and then what? A second lottery pick this year?

    For me right now,

    Wemby
    Henderson
    Amen
    Miller
    Ausar
    Whitmore

I feel there is a ceiling drop after the Top 6. So I am hoping the Rockets at least finish with the 1 or 2 worst record to secure a Top 6 floor in the worst case scenario.

Jarace on any of OKC, Orlando or Indiana would be nuts. He's probably the 4th best prospect in this draft to me. If I was a betting man I'd bet on him having a more impactful NBA career than Amen Thompson.

Rockets need the 2nd pick more than anything. If they get Wemby my fear is they'll just roll KPj out there again and use Wemby in the Bruno role.

    Not?

Also, any version of Westbrick would be terrible.

You should dread whoever OKC gets with our 2024 pick even more - it will be higher than the 12th pick they are slotted for now.

Of course, they could always use ours to move up this year. Maybe if the Rockets get 6th this year we could trade it back to them, and then happily tank for the 4th straight year.

    Would be great!

No, that's why you deleted that first part about trading whatever was needed to not have to pick 3rd.

Yeah 9x all-star, an MVP, All-Rookie, 9x All-NBA, 198 career triple doubles, 2x ppg leader, 3x apg leader, guaranteed first ballot Hall of Famer who wants that with the 3rd pick?

Folks do wonders with a 6th, 7th pick.

    Curry, Mathurin, Franz Wagner.....
