"fair time" rule for controversial or political topics? A big problem is people chooses what to click on. It's not just being pushed into a bubble but being in one by choice afterward.
Yeah, I did notice this the other day. I thought it was just a quirk of the web version (I don't use the app).
With all of the information at our fingertips we can easily find counter views to what we see on any social media site. This is a matter of confirmation bias. With access to so much information we just filter it out to what we find agrees with our preexisting opinion.
yep you actually have to work at it, making a concerted effort to reach outside the bubble... problems : 0- has zero awareness of being in a bubble 1- deny that you are in a bubble 2- i'm in a bubble, but it's so awesome in here
Did you also notice that Fox News article showed what some of those authors have written, not that those things quoted in the article were actually in the class? It was disingenuous at best.
You wanna bet on whether DeSantis gets the 2024 nomination ? Loser gives 25 bucks to tip jar? I bet you trump crushes DeSantis and has the nomination locked up by super Tuesday.
Calling for revisions to the course that allows for more alternate or heterodox perspectives, particularly if it comes from black scholarship, is reasonable. But that’s not what these Republicans are asking for. They just want their own form of indoctrination. “AP courses are standardized nationwide, and as a result of Florida’s strong stance against identity politics and indoctrination, students across the country will consequentially have access to an historically accurate, unbiased course,” Lanfranconi said in an emailed statement. “As Governor DeSantis said, African American History is American History, and we will not allow any organization to use an academic course as a gateway for indoctrination and a political agenda. We look forward to reviewing the College Board’s changes and expect the removal of content on Critical Race Theory, Black Queer Studies, Intersectionality, and other topics that violate our laws.”
Wait. I thought the "Don't say Gay" law just applied to Elementary aged kids. Not AP elective HS courses
I love how he calls it indoctrination when it's something that doesn't make him feel comfortable, and knowing it might actually tell a side of history censored from the whitewashed version. Sometimes truth is the only way to open people's eyes to the real stories that have been hidden and tucked away. It's difficult to make any rational choice or decisions without being able to decide for yourself, and not have someone else deciding which story they want you to hear. Racism, bigotry, and hate stem from ignorance.
This is the real goal of the CRT panic bullshit (which was made up by the GOP and conservatives to begin with): as a shield to use when they go after minority groups and any and all attempts to strive for equality. It's a real mystery why the GOP policies are called racist. real head scratcher
We have seen this before in China and other communist countries that dictate what can or cannot be taught. School curriculum should mostly be left to a board of experts and not politicians wielding government power to set their own school curriculum.
