It's get whatever is better than the cap space EG would free up or just buy him out and let him move on. The Rockets should only take back expiring deals and try to get a pick out of it even if it's just a second rounder.

That would equal wins and the team is trying to lose.

We will find out next year how much damage was done to Green/Smith during this whole process.

I don't think KJ Martin gives similar production to John Collins. No freaking way. Hell John Collins was a valuable piece of that Atlanta team that made it to the WCF.

Some guys don't want John Collins, that's fine, but let's not make silly comparisons either.

Collins is better at everything than KNJ. Maybe not as good at cutting.

There is a difference between reality and delusional.

Reality is they are busts with time to change that.

Delusional is when you're saying what is happening on the court is as planned and things are on track.

it's actually pretty comparable given the minutes. Collins is better defensively but KJ offensively is a comparable threat in all aspects. 3ball, pnr, lob threat. Collins isn't a put his head down get his own basket. The difference between the two isn't worth the extreme overpay

I really hope guys aren't thinking Collins is some star. Hes a beneficiary of guard play. Also something I haven't seen mentioned. Collins is extremely injury prone.

Still not a Paulo guy... he would not be putting up much numbers getting 6 to 8 shots per game here...

Jabari has been bad but a lot of it is coaching...

I feel like we should wait and see…
Collins is not worth all that imo. I want a real PG badly. Down with KPJ.

Collins would put up at least 18 and 8 on a team this bad

    This could be a scenario.

Then one question to consider is we get Collins, and for some unforseen reasons we have to move him; how easy is it to flip him? ATL had him on the market to what seems like forever.

Would a team give you salary matching/ expiring players and a pick for Collins, to cancel out what we paid?

"don't be on the treadmill, tank & get good value", when, in 6 months, the Rockets will not control 2 out of the next 3 of their own drafts seems like a bad argument.

Likewise, "save it all for a super duper star" isn't really relvant in the case of Collins - there's nothing about taking on John Collins that precludes this, the cap is going up, blah blah. John Collins doesn't foreclose your options (and arguably makes them better if he gets you slightly higher than the toilet bowl that you have lived in for 3 years)

That's not reality, if Jalen Green turns out to be the best SG ever then all that happens is you look dumb for ever calling him a bust. I'm not saying he will or won't but if he does you don't get credit for saying he was a bust now. People will instead clown on you for having that opinion. Trust me. There are people saving your posts and waiting to dunk on you if Green turns out to be an elite player.

That's not delusional. The Rockets are CLEARLY tanking. That's the goal. Therefore you can't say "They are failing." when they are in fact achieving their goal. From what we understand the goal was always to tank and then start trying to build a team starting the 2023-24 season.

I don't think I'm wrong that Jalen Green is not a franchise-level player, same for Jabari Smith. You can get away with "so you're saying there's a chance" for a few more seasons but we've seen a fair amount of evidence about both now and it seems less likely by the day. Feel free to believe it, but again, you wouldn't bet money on it.

It has no chance because the Thunder don't want Jalen Green - they have a way better version in SGA. If somehow they offered it to me, I wouldn't rule it out immediately (like if they offered Poku, I'd rule that out immediately).

I think the interesting trade would be Smith Jr. for Jalen Williams. The Thunder might still do that even though Williams has surpassed Smith on many people's estimations.

    I stand corrected...
